Best Little Word Book Ever!, by Richard Scarry, really is the best little word book for children. It is about a Huckle Cat and his friend Lowly who is a worm. Huckle shows the reader; clothes, his house, his kitchen, the busy street, the supermarket, a farm, and shipyard, and many other places. On each page he describes the place a little bit, and then there are words under places, things, and people in the pictures describing what they are. At the end of the book, the alphabet is shown with a word that start with a specific that letter and a picture of the word. This book is very educational for children to learn letters, words, and name if things and places. Richard Scarry was a children’s author and illustrator. He published over 300 books that have been translated into thirty different languages. He is most famous for his series of books about Busytown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Scarry Richard Scarry's "Best Little Word Book Ever" is a wonderful word for teaching! Great for small group and/or individual reading/learning. It is for Pre-K - 1st maybe 2nd grade. Huckle Cat carries you through the book with great emphasis on words.
