"Math can show up in the most unlikely places! When the schools in Jeremy's town ban math, all the kids cheer, all except his friend Sam, a self-proclaimed mathnik, who sets out to prove that math is not only important, but fun. Running parallel to the fictional narrative are informative sidebars that discuss the weird, puzzling, and amusing aspects of mathematics. Some topics covered are math in nature, art, music, magic and tricks, crime solving, and sports"--Publisher's description.… (plus d'informations)

This book is about Sam, the main character, trying to keep math in school. Teachers always ask the question of what will math do for me in my life? Which causes the director of education to ban math school curriculum. This is where Sam comes to the rescue, he is a math geek and loves math, he sees math everywhere and tries to prove it to the principal by giving examples. This also eventually has him explaining it to fellow classmates because they see it as boring, but it is not. It has many great math concepts to use in a class. I would not read it as an read aloud, but take some parts of it to introduce a certain topic such as probability. I would also have it in my classroom library for my middle school students so they are able to read it on their own and to see that math is everywhere. Such a informative book and relatable book for middle school adolescents. This can also be used across content areas as well such as science and ELAR. ( )

Another great book to show examples of math in the real-world and just how important math truly is. I absolutely love books like this because they open up so many possible lessons that not only teach the students about math, but also show them the real-world examples they are always asking for. ( )

If you want to know how or why we use math daily, the answers are found within this fun read. Great tool for the classroom! ( )

This book would take a little more investment, but can be a good tool for teachers when it comes to teaching a subject. They can use individual chapters as an introduction/ pre-assessment when working with students. This book helps make relevant connections to real life and is worth a read. ( )
