A girl with a crush on a Red Sox baseball player gets lost on a hike on the Appalachian trail. Stephen King's award-winning, best-selling novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is stunningly told in this, the first pop-up book by the master of suspense. It is a fairy tale grimmer than Grimm, retold with intricate pop-ups and a breathtaking text. This is the ultimate must-have edition for Stephen King fans of all ages.… (plus d'informations)

This review, and rating is more for the pop-up book than the story itself, which I reviewed before.
The art is amazing! It just really looks great and is super interactive! I was very, very impressed! But don't be fooled by the child-like quality of its appearance. The drawings of the girl get kind of creepy and the "monster" looks pretty scary! I would not give this to a child, pop-up or no pop-up. Just remember, the author is Stephen King! ( )

Not a kids' version, but the actual book with popups! Great addition to my crazy popup collection! ( )

Definitely not for small kids, this magnificent pop-up book captures all the eerie mood of the story; that of being lost in the woods. Based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, get ready for the hackles on the back of your neck to raise, because whether or not you believe in the "god of the lost", the all too real fear of losing your way in an unknown and probably dangerous place is made painfully clear in this grim telling. My favorite pop-up spread is the ancient red truck where 9 year old Trisha finds shelter from what scares her the most. Although the story is greatly abbreviated, enough is there to get you to the place where you know "you have to close" just like her hero, Tom Gordon. ( )

This is a very detailed pop up book. It's about a girl who goes hiking with her mother and brother in the woods and gets lost. For days she has to fend for herself in the woods and her love for a baseball player keeps her motivated to keep going. This book would be good for older students. ( )

I liked it a lot. The movie of it might be scary. I liked the pop-up pages, and I liked when Trisha was at the hospital because that was the end. The book wasn't too long. (Review by Sean, age 5)

This is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel by the same name. Nine-year-old Trisha becomes lost in the woods while on a day hike with her family, and spends several days searching for food, water and the way out while being stalked by the monstrous God of the Lost. The illustrations and pop-ups in this version of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon are nicely done. The story is abridged, naturally, which I think hurts it quite a lot. There certainly isn't the same sense of suspense or drama. Still, this is an interesting addition to my Stephen King collection. (Review by Mom) ( )
