This book is about catching fireflies in a jar. As the child is catching then she is counting them and at the end of the story she lets them all go free. I like this story because it teaches children how to count in a real way that is possible in real life, and is something safe and fun to do. Who doesn't like to go out and catch fireflies. I would use this in my classroom because my children could go home and do that. I think that this book would be good for the grades (4-K - second grade). I think that the theme for this book would be catching fireflies.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic. This is a great counting book. The fireflies are so bright and glowing! ( )

This book was an excellent way to introduce an addition activity. The storyline is very interactive and allows for several engaging questions. The story also talks about summertime and what fireflies do. It is your goal to get all ten in the jar. When you do, you let them go.
