From a Grand Master of Science Fiction and Fantasy: Everything changes with the arrival of mysterious, green cat.   In a futuristic human society based on our own, the regimented, regulated, and bureaucratized lifestyle led by the misanthropic Phil Gish leaves him feeling vaguely dissatisfied and emotionally cut off from other people. When a green cat appears in his room, he is surprised to find that it makes him feel happier and more alive than he has ever felt. Phil decides to call the cat Lucky, hoping his life will take a turn for the better. But lucky is in high demand, and Phil quickly realizes that he's going to have to go up against the mob, the FBI, some nude aliens, and a gorgeous mystery woman if he's to keep him. When Lucky seems to vanish into thin air, Phil will do anything to get him back, even if it means challenging the very powers that rule his world.  … (plus d'informations)

Sometimes Leiber is good and sometimes he writes clever rubbish. This is the later. Could not finish it. Clever dialogue in a Monty Python script. It's silly without any laughs. Not SF. ( )

Cute. ( )

A fairly dated and fairly sexist cold war romp in which our plea for cosmic help just may have been answered in the form of a verdant mouser. Fast-paced and amusing. ( )

A somewhat entertaining potboiler that's mainly going to interest Leiber fans at this point. There are some quite amusing (and silly) verbal exchanges, but don't expect any philosophical revelations. This is from Leiber's 'alcoholic' period, so it's interesting from that aspect. Leiber was more of a 'Weird Tales' writer than SF, as the short stories on the flip side of this Ace double demonstrate. For Leiber that will interest more literary readers, I suggest "Burn Witch Burn," "The Silver Eggheads," "Our Lady of Darkness," and The Fafhrd and Gray Mouser series. ( )

If this book were made into a movie, it would be directed by Guy Ritchie. It is a crazy caper full of many odd characters including a husband and wife wrestling team, a witch, government agents, satyrs, criminals, gun-wielding psychoanalysts, and a green cat named Lucky. A fun, silly ride from start to finish. ( )

Phil Gish si svegliò di ottimo umore, come se tutta la sua vita precedente fosse appartenuta ad altre due persone: due poveri disgraziati.
