The adventure continues in book two as Kat and Seb take off and danger follows them. A marriage of convenience story that contains good examples of mercy and grace. I liked how the author does quick recaps to remind readers of details from book 1 and brings the focus onto this pair of side characters who tagged along on the wagon train. Their back stories are revealed, and their relationship grows deeper as they face perils together. A mystery is solved and they renew their faith. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" I liked how the author keeps the pace going and brings further developments to the group in Idaho without taking the focus from Kat and Seb's tale. The mercy they show to Yvette is beautiful, and sacrificial. A good example of Christ's love. The book leaves on a cliffhanger, setting up for the edition. Looking forward to the next installment. 4.5 stars (An ebook was provided by NetGalley and the LibraryThing Early Reviewers. All opinions expressed are my own.) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The characters are wonderful! They're so well written, even the perpetrators. I love how Kat and Seb start to work together towards a common goal. I also like how the community living in the canyon helps each other and truly acts like family.
I feel like this can be read as a stand-alone, but it would have made a little more sense if I'd read the first book. Mary Connealy does such a good job writing that it's easy to pick up where the story is heading.
I won a complimentary early review copy of the book from LibraryThing through Bethany House. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ( )
