From the Kirriemuir 'lad o 'pairts' who found world fame and became one of this country's greatest playwrights to the old Barrie looking back at the young Barrie, who came to London to find success and lunched too often four halfpenny buns, in these two works Barrie is bookended. In The Greenwood Hat, Barrie offers a biography (of sorts) of the two years immediately before he found fame. Written as an old man, looking back, we find fact and fiction mingled into a humorous story in typical Barrie fashion. From earlier in his life, looking back to his student days, An Edinburgh Eleven uses a cricketing analogy to bind together a team of men who Barrie felt were greats. Again the humour is to the fore as he reveals portraits of men, some still remembered and some long forgotten. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
