Summary: Digger and Tiger spend all their time in the Yard. It's full of junk and it's their place. Then one day a girl arrives, wanting to play with them, but they said they don;t play with girlsbecause girls don't know how to play. However, Meggie (the girl) picked up some of rubbish and made a racing car,the nect day she build a ship use junk. Every day Meggie thought of something different and she became a friend with Digger and Tiger.
Genre: a part of contemporary realistic, a part of fantasy. Because in our real life, a girl can be very creative and get along well with boys but at the end of story two boys made a rocket and went to starship Meggie Moon so I think the last part is sort of fantasy story.

Reggie Moon marched her way into a boys only play yard that was filled with a nothing but grass. The boys told her she couldn't play and that she didn't know how. However, she impressed them when she built a racing car that they could actually drive. The boys enjoyed the race car so much that after she left they drove it until dark. The next day she came again and built a ship but was only allowed on if she was the cook. When she said she would rather be lookout and they shouted "aye-aye shipmate" back and forth they knew she was in to play. The boys ended up admitting that they didn't mind playing with a girl, especially Maggie Moon. When she left they even named there rocket, Starship Meggie Moon. This is modern fantasy fiction.

This book is about two little boys who are best friends and love to play in a junk yard. When a little girl named Meggie wants to come play with them they say that girls can't. Throughout the course of a few days Meggie shows them that she can build incredible things out of the junk and they have a great time together. Then she tells them she has to go back home and she leaves them with a pile of new junk. After she's gone they turn that junk into Starship Meggie Moon.
Critique (Genre): This is a good example of realistic fiction if you view them flying away in the starship as in their minds. Many times boys have a tendency to think girls can't do what they can do, and it takes girls showing them that they can do the same things, sometimes even better for them to let girls in. Children are faced with using their imagination to come up with things to do on a daily basis and this book is a good example of that.

Diger and Tiger like to play in the junkyard. Oneday Meggie asks to play, but they don't want to play with a girl. They see Meggie building interesting things and imagining while playing fun games. A friendship builds while they build pirateships and racecars. Then, Meggie has to move away. The boys use their imagination to build a rocket to go visit her. ( )
