A Soviet rocket falls back to Earth carrying deadly bacteria. KGB Professor Voronov turns the extraterrestrial threat into a terrifying weapon that could be used to devastate the Western world; but he doesn't take into account the vigilance of Her Majesty's intelligence services. Soon, Blake and Mortimer are drawn into a lethal, shadowy war from Moscow to London - where the stakes are no less than international peace and the real enemy may not be obvious. His plot is to have the West believe that the Russians are behind it in order to create the conditions for a Third World War. Voronov finds an ally in the famous anti-hero created by Edgar P. Jacobs Colonel Olrik who under the name of Ilkor is now a Colonel in the KGB and who once again battles with Blake and Mortimer.
The action takes place around 1957 in London and of course... Moscow near the former British Embassy.
For all who like Eastern Europe in Comics, the Klow, a Syldavian restaurant, is shown at the beginning of the album as the place where the secretary of the British embassy places a call to her Russian handler "Red Bear". A wink to Herge's King Ottokar's Scepter with who Edgar P. Jacobs worked before creating the Blake and Mortimer series, as the same Klow Restaurant is where Tintin mistakenly thinks he was just served his dog Snowy for lunch because the Owner of Klow really does not want him to return there.
