Being from the UK I have to admit that I didn’t really know a great deal about JFK Jr, but I was riveted by this book and thoroughly enjoyed learning about his life and the great tragedy of his death. His mother definitely seemed to have dominated his life so, on her death, he seems to have thrown caution to the wind, and did all the things his mother forbade him to do. All in all, I found the way the author wrote this book very readable and couldn’t put it down. ( ) This book starts out with the plane crash that killed JFK Jr; his wife, Carolyn; and sister-in-law, Lauren. The weather was foggy and a factor that evening, but ultimately the crash was caused by pilot error. Even as a young child John was fascinated with helicopters and planes and begged to go with his father. John F. Kennedy Jr’s life was strongly influenced by his mother. She did not always agree with his life choices. Even though he was very wealthy, he used his name to help others and was very down to earth and kind to everyone. This is for anyone who wants a peek into the Kennedy’s life. I liked this book for what it told me about the choices JFK, jr had, and it validated what I thought...he made a bad choice out of his own arrogance. Throughout the book, the author paints a duel insight into the Kennedy's and especially JFK,Jr. First, he did not use drugs and then later details of his and his wife's drug use is described. Much credit is given to what a wonderful. mother Jackie was, but in other chapters it tells of how nannies raised the kids while she was out...always searching for the next rich husband. And to live with a married man for years. For some reason, it seems politically incorrect to stay too long on the Kennedy's flaws and we revere even yet. They were people, but not people who suffered unlike any other family, only there deaths etc.were always in the news. Yes a celebrity family but walk through any cemetery and you will find lots of families have lost multiple family members. that being said, this book is great for anyone who idolize the Kennedy s and overlook the two different approaches at the same subject throughout the book. I almost felt that the author was afraid to be politically incorrect in being negative about the Kennedy's and so when he was negative, quickly put in a positive. Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, for its content and one more telling of a Kennedy family member. This was a fascinating book and I read it in two readings, very easy to read. But I left with the same feeling that I had before reading the book...why did the American taxpayers have to pay for his recovery and funeral, when they had so much money. and Caroline inherited milions, and millions. Sad commentary on our celebrity worship. This book continues to comment on how much grief the Kennedys have had, but other families have also. It just isn't in the news. Over all, this book was good reading, but upsetting in how the rich live with acclodes to how much some of them do for others. To those who much is given, much is expected... I recommend this book, but if you are on the poverty level of existence, as I am, it will leave a poor taste in your mouth. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
