Compared to some of Newport's other books, the concept in this one felt more 'cobbled together'. Some exciting ideas and good anecdotes. ( ) This was a nice quick read. My main issue is it felt more like a confection than a full meal. There are some good ideas here (and some I've come across previously - I strongly suspect one of my previous managers read an earlier book by this author) but it felt as though they weren't explored as fully as they could have been. Having said that, Cal Newport has a really nice writing style and a deft hand with interweaving anecdotes into the text. I'll likely be passing this on (but this isn't an indication of the book itself, more a case of a severe lack of shelf space) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"The author of Digital Minimalism and Deep Work offers a philosophy for pursuing meaningful accomplishment while avoiding overload. History's most creative and impactful philosophers, scientists, artists, and writers mastered the art of producing valuable work with staying power. In this book, Cal Newport harnesses the wisdom of these traditional knowledge workers to transform modern jobs. Drawing from research on the habits and mindsets of a varied cast of thinkers from Galileo and Isaac Newton to Jane Austen and Georgia O'Keefe, Newport lays out the key principles of "slow productivity" and provides step-by-step advice for workers to replace the standard notion of productivity with a slower, more humane alternative"-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
