A little boy draws a picture of some cows, and when a breeze blows it into the air, he sees cows flying everywhere. But can he convince everyone else that cows can fly? This is a fun, rhyming imaginative book.

This book is about a little boy that wants to draw a picture of cows flying but his father discourages him because he says that cows can't fly. Soon, the little boy does see cows flying but he is the only one.

Fun book about a boy who draws a picture of flying cows, the picture is swept away to a pasture where it is found by cows, and then the cows start to fly. This is a great book for early readers because the story can be told through the pictures alone. The rhyming is also a great addition to this book as it adds a fun element.
In the classroom I would have my students write a sequel to the story. They would create one or two rhymes similar to those found in the book and draw pictures to go along with their rhymes. This would give them practice writing poetry and use of creative thinking. ( )

The text formatting is a little boring compared with other examples, but the story and illustrations make up for it. Daniel loves to look at the pictures, which are detailed and vibrant enough to offer something different at each reading. I worry that an older child will notice the danger of watching flying cows from below, as falling cow-pats could ruin the view. I'm annoyed at every reading that the representation of gender (always a deliberate effect, especially in children's literature), is overtly, jarringly feminist. Finally, the overall moral, that you can do anything you put your mind to, troubles my literal mind, but the overall effect is one of "whimsy," and you just have to sit back and enjoy the flock of fluttering cattle.
