Historic Doubts on the Life and Reign of King Richard III is a book by Horace Walpole, first published in 1768. The book is a historical analysis of the life and reign of King Richard III of England, who ruled from 1483 to 1485. Walpole examines the traditional accounts of Richard's life and reign, as well as the sources of those accounts, and raises doubts about their accuracy. He argues that Richard has been unfairly maligned by history, and that many of the accusations against him are based on hearsay and propaganda.Walpole's book is considered to be one of the first works of historical revisionism, as he challenges the accepted narrative of Richard III's reign and offers an alternative interpretation of the events of the time. He also explores the role of propaganda and political manipulation in shaping historical accounts, and argues that historians must be skeptical of the sources they rely on.The book was controversial when it was first published, as it challenged the accepted view of Richard III as a ruthless and tyrannical ruler. However, it has since been recognized as an important work of historical scholarship, and has influenced subsequent studies of Richard III and his reign. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.… (plus d'informations)
