Edgar is a great book for kids that teaches them important life lessons. The illustrations are completely cute and colorful and support the text well. The narrative is lighthearted and presented in a sing-song kind of way, which makes it appealing to young children. This is a perfect book to read over and over again. Recommended. Having fun while learning important skills! Canadian author Garth A Edgar understands well the learning process for children - entertaining stories that incorporate counting numbers and some accessible math, learning colors, creative rhyming patterns, and some reassurances about such things as health issues. The stories are charming - the first about interaction of pets (a cat and a visiting dog), the second about playing with colored balls - and loosing some, and the third about feeling ill and being cared for by a sensitive mother. The stories are presented with excellent illustrations, interactive exercises with learning rhymes and that instruct perfectly, and many messages about interactions with friends, family and pets. Hopefully the author (and illustrator) will continue this engaging series of books for children. Highly recommended. The first story, a charming tale about the interaction between a cat and a visiting dog, is a testament to Edgar's ability to weave engaging narratives. The second story, a playful romp with colored balls, and the third, a tender account of a child feeling ill and being comforted by a caring mother, further show his storytelling ability.
What struck me most about Overall Fun was how it incorporates important lessons into its narratives. From counting numbers and learning colors to understanding health issues, the book has many earning opportunities. The author does a great job of presenting these lessons through interactive exercises and creative rhymes, making the learning process from what I saw at least, enjoyable and engaging.
The illustrations accompanying the stories are nice as well. They not only add visual appeal but also enhance the storytelling, making the narratives more relatable and engaging. The book also does a commendable job of imparting valuable lessons about interactions with friends, family, and pets.
I was moved by the sensitivity and thoughtfulness within the book. It's a testament to the impact that well-crafted children's literature can have. I really enjoyed Overall Fun and I am hopeful that Edgar will continue this engaging series. This book is a must-read and comes highly recommended from me. ( )
