The information in this book seems solid, very consistent with research I've previously done on the topic. I will say, I was a bit disappointed to see that it played it safe and offered all of this as something to be paired with Chemo. I was hoping that it would go the full distance and promote a non-chemo option for treating cancer (there are several that exist). For what it is, however, it is good. If you are to practice the diet that is promoted here before you have cancer it is a great way to help ensure that you never get it, in fact it may be more beneficial as a preventative than anything else. Does it offer anything that you couldn't already find on Youtube/the internet? Probably not. As a result, is it worth the price tag? Only if you have zero confidence in yourself to gather the information on your own. If you are planning on going the chemo route, this may not offer much. I've learned a great deal about diet from patients getting traditional treatment and have doctors that help them eat better during the process. So the idea that you won't hear any of this during chemo is technically possible, but rather improbable nowadays. ( )

An amazing book! Ms. Lutman offers some very helpful tips to maximize health using lifestyle modifications while coping with cancer. She discussed food, rest, movement and other components of health such as social support. She even has a book portal stocked with her videos of many of the book chapters if struggling with brain fog. I love this feature as it could also prove to be helpful for more auditory learners or those with visual impairment. ( )

Thriving Through Cancer by Kelly Lutman is a good, basic introduction to ways to help your health be as good as possible through a cancer diagnosis. Lutman is a health coach certified in Applied Functional Medicine.

Thriving Through Cancer offers a lot of good information for those who don't know much about nutrition and how it can affect your health through cancer treatment. There is also good information about other complimentary holistic therapies--exercise, good hydration, eliminating toxins as much as possible, supporting your thought life through expressive writing and other good ways to help your body, mind and soul through treatment and as you heal after treatment.

I would recommend this book for someone who is new to nutrition and complimentary health therapies and taking care of their body holistically. It may make a good gift for a dear friend or cancer patient. I personally have been doing holistic healthcare for awhile so I was already familiar with a lot of this information. Everything that I read seemed to be solid and based on good research. ( )

I was very excited to receive this book. After reading it, I gave it a 2/5 star review. I was really hoping for more information on nourishing thru cancer. Most of this information is a compilation of already known methods. When a study is mentioned it is rarely linked to the study information. My expectations exceeded what was presented. It is a fast and easy read. This book could be the jumping off point if you are looking for ways to thrive through a cancer journey.

I received a copy of this book for free in return for a review. I do not have cancer, but have family members who do and have read several other books about cancer and diet through the years. This book offers great information on a holistic approach to fighting cancer. It is a valuable resource for anyone looking for a healthier way to live. Much of the advice is similar to much that I have research for my own autoimmune disease, but this book is presented in a very clear way. The wrap up at the end of each chapter makes it easy to go back and make a clear list of directives to follow without getting bogged down in the details of each chapter. The chapters are short and to the point. I was very impressed with this book and am glad to have it as a resource. ( )
