Raunchy, fun, a bit vapid compared to other two books. ( )

This was my favorite of the series oddly because second chance romances are not normally my thing. ( )

First Impressions
King of Greed is the third installment in the "Kings of Sin" series and this is a story that I was the most excited for being in the previous books we have seen this couple and I was also very excited for the marriage in trouble type of set up. I also had seen some incredible reviews raving about this book and even though I was torn over the mixed reviews, its very obvious why some readers didn't like this book and it wasn't for the same reason that I didn't like this one in some aspects. If you are looking for a big dramatic grovel and seeing the hero beg, look for different books because that is NOT this book. This book is about two people who deeply love each other and have lost their way and have to work to find each other again. Its about hard work and what makes a true marriage work in the long run.

Summary
Alessandra and Dominic fell in love when they met in college and have been married for over a decade. Dominic created his own wealth and became successful on his own and Alessandra supported him all of this time without complaint of the missed dinners and anniversaries due to his work. But when he misses his ten-year anniversary, Alessandra has had enough of being neglected by her husband and leaves him and Dominic is shocked beyond belief over what his wife has decided on. And he realizes that his focus on building his empire cost him the person he did it all for and will fight for her no matter what it takes. But Alessandra is determined to let go of the pain that Dominic caused her, and even though she desperately loves him, she doesn't trust him not to go back to his old ways. But with determination and devotion, Dominic is going to prove to the woman he loves he will never give up on them no matter what it takes...

What I Loved
There are many elements to this story that I adored. I really appreciated some of the flashbacks that we receive from this couple as we get to see their beginning and the type of relationship that they had before Dominic made his billions when they were poor living off of ramen noodles. It really showed the history and depth of their hearts for each other. The character growth in this book is just so well-developed. We see Alessandra finding herself. For many years she gave everything she was to Dominic and supported his goals but in the process forgot her own identity. We see her find herself in this story and fight for what she deserves in life. It seems a bit simple but she craves love and family and traveling and starting her own flower shop.

Then we have Dominic who is at a loss in losing Alessandra, he has no clue how to regain the trust they once had. He realizes his priorities are off and that they need to be readjusted. We see him slowly devote himself to Alessandra and their marriage and fight for their love in such an admirable way. We do see some characters that enter into the story that could be future heroes of future books in the series so I am really intrigued to see if the author will be giving more threads for these brothers that we see in the book. The heart and feels that are contained within this story is breathtaking. The way that the author really capitalized on the feelings of this couple and the depths of their feelings for each other was so heartfelt. The way that they love each other but the ways in which they hurt for one another was so real. This is more of a slow burn but I really appreciated that. This is a couple that have been married for ten years so I valued that we didn't have a ton of sex scenes but the ones that we did get are *chef's kiss* quality of scenes. I also adored the way the grovel was implemented in this story. Too many times authors rely on a grand gesture of a grovel. But in this one, we have a gradual building of a grovel and it felt way more realistic and relatable to how relationships actually work. Relationships and marriage especially take work and it's not easy and he needed to prove that he was changing and would be there for her in the way that she needed him to be.

What I Struggled With
There were some things in this story that I did struggle with. Unfortunately, it wasn't a perfect read as much as I wanted it to be. But don't think that I didn't love this one, because I really did. But there were some factors in the story that kept it from being a full five-star read. The first is the issues with the heroine. So first, I struggled with how she delivered the news with Dominic. Dominic literally has no clue she has been struggling for so long. He is blinded by it all. And while I appreciated that Alessandra took accountability for it, I still wasn't a fan that she just ups and leaves and hasn't communicated with Dom about the problems and how much he has been hurting her and their marriage. Yes, Dominic has been blinded and been so career-focused, but she also enabled the behavior without coming to him to be honest on how she felt. Then we have the actions that she takes after the "divorce" when she starts dating other men. To be honest, I didn't understand her motivations here. She is literally ready to start dating other men weeks after leaving her husband of a decade? It just didn't seem within her character of who she is to do it but also the WAY that she dates these men, was a bit cruel to Dominic in how she treats him. I really felt for Dominic because you can see how much it hurts him deeply to see her being so cavalier about it all. It just felt like some of the actions that the heroine takes just doesn't match with who she is and felt off to me at times. Then the last issue that I had was the ending. It felt so rushed, I would have liked a bit more time seeing them together as a couple after they had reconciled. It just felt too quick in how it ends and not as satisfying as I would have liked.

King of Greed is a story of the pain and love that comes with the heart, the journey and growth of redemption, and the fight that is involved to win your love over when mistakes happen...a true deep tale of forgiveness and a riveting tale of love in all its beautiful and ugly moments...
