In Gail Ward Olmsted's novel "Miranda Nights," readers are introduced to a captivating tale that seamlessly blends elements of suspense, personal growth, and the complex interplay of modern challenges. Set against the backdrop of a former Assistant District Attorney's life, the story delves into the pursuit of a balanced existence in a world where success and security can swiftly give way to uncertainty and danger.

Miranda Quinn, the protagonist, seems to possess it all – a supportive husband, a thriving career, and a resilient spirit. The narrative begins with Miranda having gracefully transitioned from her canceled legal advice TV show to hosting a late-night radio program, "Miranda Nights." However, the façade of an idyllic life starts to crack when she becomes embroiled in a case that hits close to home: the arrest of her best friend's teenage son. Facing an avalanche of evidence against the young boy, Miranda's determination to seek justice exposes her vulnerability, both personally and professionally.

The strength of "Miranda Nights" lies in Olmsted's skillful weaving of suspense into the story's fabric. The threat of a relentless caller, escalating from social media assaults to disturbing break-ins and arson, creates an atmosphere of genuine peril. Olmsted's pacing is well-balanced, ensuring that the plot maintains its tension while allowing ample space for character development.

Miranda, as a protagonist, embodies resilience and depth. Her evolution from a confident career woman to someone facing unforeseen challenges is relatable and compelling. Miranda Nights by Gail Ward Olmsted continues the thrilling life of Miranda Quinn in a must read sequel!

Miranda Quinn is living a fantastic life after having to deal with her legal advice tv show being cancelled two years ago. But, of course, life doesn't stay squeaky clean for long! Her best friend's son gets arrested for something he claims he didn't do and Miranda comes to help. And then things get worse... She has a stalker calling into her radio talk show with weird statements and threats, one of her family members has a medical emergency, and her life seems to be spiraling out of control. As her stalker caller gets more aggressive, you just know Miranda is going to solve this mystery with the help of her friends and family.

What a thrill ride thing book was! The danger, the thrills, the mystery behind it all was absolutely fantastic and very engaging. It's terrifying at the same time as we know that stalkers can be extremely dangerous, especially one that seems to know more about Miranda than the average Joe. There is so much potential in this plot and it really pulls you in. I did expect there to be a very explosive ending but it gently rolls out.

I did enjoy seeing Miranda and her husband throughout the book. It was nice to see Miranda being a happy person and working with the troubles surrounding her life instead of being the core focus. At times, it does make the thriller side of this book not as prevalent (and can be super annoying if you wanted a pure thriller), but I enjoyed it. It felt more like a contemporary thriller.

Do you need to read the first book in the series to understand this one? No. If you read the first book it will give you all the information you need to understand this book 100% but Gail does a marvelous job of giving enough information to fill the reader in.

This book is a must read for me this summer! The thrills, tension, and chance to jump back into Miranda Quinn's world is a highly recommended book from this reviewer!

Four out of five stars.

I received this book for free form the author, Gail Ward Olmstead, in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Miranda Nights follows Miranda “Randi” Quinn, the host of a radio show where she provides legal advice to listeners who call in. When one caller continually calls in with threatening messages which then turns into more physical acts of stalking and destruction, it puts the former Assistant District Attorney on edge. That, mixed with some legal trouble involving her best friend’s teenage son, her stepmother’s ailing health, and a myriad of other issues makes for a rollercoaster ride of conflicts and misadventures that rain down on our hero and provide an entertaining read.

I recommend Miranda Nights for anyone looking for a story that uniquely blends a mixture of genres with a quirky main character supported by a likable cast of friends and family and a fast-paced narration that bounces among multiple subplots, all of which wrap up neatly and satisfyingly.

This is the second book about a lawyer named Miranda Quinn, her life, and the legal cases she is involved in. Much of the writing concerns her family and various activities together. I usually don't like to read mystery type books but this book was a wonderful surprise! The characters of Miranda and her husband Eric were well developed and a lot of laughs. The book was easy to read, easy to follow if I needed to do something else, but also hard to put down.
I did not read the first book "Miranda Writes" and I did not feel that I needed to do so although I plan to read it now since I enjoyed this book so much. It is perfect for a vacation. It is fun and funny. I definitely recommend this book as a great summer read! ( )

I couldn’t stop reading Miranda Nights! No one weaves wit and tension like Gail Ward Olmsted and her latest novel “Nights” proves it.
