Parker Brown knows exactly what she wants and has a plan for how to get it. Which is a fantastic skill as the head wedding planner at Vows, the wedding and event company she runs with her three best friends. However, she has no clue what fascination Malcolm Kavanaugh, a local mechanic, holds for her but she can't seem to stop herself from melting when he snags a kiss. Can Malcolm fit into Parker's meticulously ordered life and will Malcolm let Parker in enough to satisfy her desires for a true partner in life? The final book in a quartet and while I largely enjoyed it, I was a little disappointed. I found Parker's character most interesting (possibly because I am also a meticulous planner) and felt like the conflicts between her and Malcolm in the novel weren't much of anything. Also, the book shows it's age a bit as there's a lot of grabbing and kissing that doesn't feel particularly consensual all the time. Those issues aside, the friendship of the four women who run Vows continues to be the highlight of the series and it is a delight to see all of them get their happy endings. Parker Brown has been the glue that holds the wedding company, Vows, together since the beginning, but now as the rest of her friends are in love and engaged, Parker begins to look at her life and wonder if running this company with her friends is enough. Malcolm Kavanaugh isn't what Parker has been looking for, but he continues to annoy and insinuate his presence into her life and she can't help but be intrigued. As Mac's wedding day approaches, Parker finds herself spending more and more time with Mal, but she wants a partner and his insecurities about the difference in their station may drive the two of them apart. Happy Ever After is the final book in the Bride Quartet and provides a satisfying end to the series. Although the differences between Parker and Mal could have been emphasized more, the conflict between the characters over those differences made for a pleasing story to end the series. Overall, Happy Ever After brings this entertaining series to a pleasurable close.
