Some people with lots of years on them are much more fit than people a generation or more younger than they are. Gustaf's story is well worth telling. The author's note clarifies that, for the sake the story, some changes to history were made, but the essence of Truth is there. It's an important book, and a fun one. ( ) This book really made me feel sad for Supergrandpa at the first time. A 66 years old man, who really wants to take part in the Swedish Bycicle Race, is not allowed because they judge him as too old. So he starts riding his bike without the admission of the State and travels the whole way of about 1000 miles on his bike. It doesn't take a long time until he becomes famous all over Sweden. The people admired him and he becomes the winner of the hearts. I really love this story as it represents the never ending generation gap problem. Old people are still put on the edge when younger ones could master the ambition too. I think this is a great book to teach children that if they put their mind to something, they can accomplish anything. Having it based on a real event, gives relevance to this idea to children. The story reminds me of the tortoise and the hare story but with people in a bike race. I really liked the watercolor illustrations as they give the book a rustic and old feel, going very well with the story. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
