This book is 'Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator" by Roald Dahl, illustrated by Quentin Blake, and published in 1972. This book is about Charlie, his family, and willy Wonka taking an exciting trip to outer space. They escaped the knids and saved the people in the space hotel and the White House rejoiced over them. I think while this book is good for imagination and adventure, it is not good to have in a classroom. This book has many racist and snide remarks to many groups of people and I would never want my kids to be reading this and think badly of themselves or believe common stereotypes that are misconceptions. You’ll never get anywhere if you go about what-iffing like that. Would Columbus have discovered America if he’d said “What if I sink on the way over? What if I meet pirates? What if I never come back?” He wouldn’t even have started. We want no what-iffers around here, right, Charlie? Off we go, then. - ‘Anyone can ask questions,’ said Mr Wonka. ‘It’s the answers that count.’ aucune critique | ajouter une critique
