An excellent high-tech adventure with non-stop action, numerous "bad guys" and more deaths than can be counted, fortunately sparing the heroine and a few select others. Fast and evenly paced, with well developed characters and an intriguing story line, set in a near future world with an assortment of unique political alliances, this is the first in what looks to be an enjoyable series. The subtitle is literally a perfect description of this novel: a near-future Sci-Fi, techno thriller adventure. A fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled read told in multiple POVs with several intriguing characters and some frighteningly realistic speculative scenarios. I could definitely imagine this one as having a solid B movie potential. For Sci-Fi fans.

In a near future time, aerospace engineer Alice Knight works at the forefront of the program to transfer Anshar, a metallic asteroid, into Earth orbit. It is a day for celebrating.

But a meteor strike decimates London and, to her horror, Alice discovers that her boss, Aiden Lynch, has altered the programming for the asteroid mining program and used it to destroy several Earth cities, killing thousands.

Now Alice is the only one who knows how to stop Anshar . . . but she has become its next target.

This near-future science fiction techno-thriller gives readers three viewpoints . . . Alice, Marcos, and Julian . . . and explores their relationships as it slowly reveals the backstory necessary for understanding their actions. Strong characters, an intriguing plot, and unexpected twists all work together to keep the pages turning.

With believable [albeit a tad frightening] technology and a sense of urgency, the narrative pulls the reader into the telling of the tale from the outset. A threat of tension underlies the narrative, keeping the suspense mounting and the readers guessing as to what will happen next.

While a bit of social commentary works its way into the narrative, the story remains action-packed; its focus on the characters’ efforts to address the hijacking of Anshar remains at the forefront. The strong sense of place anchors the telling of the tale and, as Alice seeks to regain control of Anshar, the story races to a denouement that readers are sure to find satisfying.

Highly recommended.
