I thought this book would be a standard thriller, but instead the author co-opts that genre to offer something much more interesting: a character analysis of two bonkers people that explores the nature of power in "feminine" professions (nursing and librarianship) and the darker side of writing. Recommended for all libraries. ( ) Wanted to like this one, but nothing ever really came together for me. There was some intrigue, yes, but it felt cobbled together, patchy. I didn't get the dynamic between the two main characters and the end was sadly disappointing. It didn't help that the narrators weren't my cup of tea, either. I may have liked this book a bit more if I'd read the hard copy. Margo and Patricia are librarians at a small town library. However, Margo has a secret past. She was a nurse that killed patients. Now she has reinvented herself as a librarian, maintaining the peace at the library, esp. with Friday guy-who likes to look at forbidden material on the computer. Patricia wants to be a writer, and happens to live in Margo's building. She sees Margo in some odd situations, and begins to suspect something is strange about her. When something happens, and the police investigate, Patricia writes more and more about Margo in her journal. Margo suspects that Patricia is writing about her which Patricia denies. The two librarians come to a confrontation, who will be victorious? aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"No one knows Margo's real name. Her colleagues and patrons at a small-town public library only know her middle-aged normalcy, congeniality, and charm. They have no reason to suspect that she is, in fact, a former nurse with a trail of countless premature deaths in her wake. She has turned a new page, so to speak, and the library is her sanctuary, a place to quell old urges. That is, at least, until Patricia, a recent graduate and failed novelist, joins the library staff. Patricia quickly notices Margo's subtly sinister edge, and watches her carefully. When a patron's death in the library bathroom gives her a hint of Margo's mysterious past, Patricia can't resist digging deeper--even as this new fixation becomes all-consuming."-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
