This book shows , how one action by a simple person can change the whole world . All it takes is courage. women all over the world have been fighting for their rights. Personally i believe these rights must e common sense . Of course women and men are equal . In this book Esther travels to a new place and fights for a very simple right , but back then she faced numerous obstacles by men who were nothing but insecure about themselves.Very sadly Until these days social injustice is very common towards women, Women still make less money than men, they are more likely yo be harassed, physically and psychologically abused. We always need women like Esther to stand up , for other women. Esther stood up and changed the world for better. I believe this book will be a great read during social studies class about equality. This book was about an older woman who decided to travel west and make a difference in women's rights. She was able to fight for women to be able to vote, and then she eventually became the first female judge. She admitted that she wasn't the most qualified for the job but she did her best and she changed history. ( )

I can't believe I never knew about the first woman judge in America! I love that I'm learning all of these things from *children's* books! Esther Mae Hobart McQuigg Slack Morris was an older woman living in Wyoming territory who was originally from the Northeast. She soon met with man who also believed in women's suffrage, Colonel William Bright, who proposed "An Act to Grant to the Women of the Wyoming Territory the Right of Suffrage and to Hold Office." Colonel met with other men on the council, and all but a young lawyer agreed. She later became the judge after a few sexist actions and remarks. After serving fair and just terms, the young lawyer who initially opposed her was later promulgating on her behalf. Not too terribly long after her service and multiple protests, in 1920 the US passed a nation wide law allowing all women to vote and hold office. ( )

This book was very informative about Esther Morris, reading this book was the first time I ever heard of her. Although, the book can be used as a learning tool, it was boring and uninteresting. I would not share this book with my students for those reasons. ( )

Very informative, but didn't evoke much of a response aesthetically. I would possibly use this book, but only if I needed a resource for the life of Esther Morris specifically. I do like the building of the memorial. A good, but not great book. ( )
