Boxer is new at his Victorian country school having just moved there from Queensland. He doesn’t have any friends and he is sick of the teachers picking on him so in the middle of a class, he decides to walk out. Boxer is in the process of deciding what he is going to do when the weirdest, sneakiest kid in his class, Nick, runs out and joins him. Together, they catch a train to Melbourne and have all sorts of illegal adventures – nearly shoplifting, hiring a hotel room and breaking a spa and stowing away on a cruiser someone has left moored in Port Phillip Bay – its all too much excitement for Boxer to take and he wishes more than once in the course of the next few hours that he was back in class getting yelled at by his teachers!p.40 – 42“I come out…” to end of chapter where Nick “finds” a handbag.
