With her signature charm and sense of humor, bestselling author Helena Hunting creates a novel about love, family, and second chances in Make a Wish.
Ever have a defining life moment you wish you could do over? Harley Spark has one. The time she almost kissed the widowed father of the toddler she nannied for. It was so bad they moved across the state and she never saw them again.
Fast forward seven years and she's totally over it. At least she thinks she is. Until Gavin Rhodes and his adorable now nine-year-old daughter, Peyton, reappear at a princess-themed birthday party hosted by Spark House, Harley's family's event hotel. Despite trying to avoid the awkwardness of the situation, she can't help but notice how unbearably sexy he looks in a tutu. Add to that a spontaneous hives breakout, and it's clear she's not even remotely over the mortification of her egregious error all those years ago.
Except Gavin seems oblivious to her inner turmoil. So much so that he suggests they get together for lunch. For Peyton's sake, of course. It's the perfect opportunity to heal old wounds. Or it could just reopen them. This is one of those times Harley wishes she could see the future...

Too much drama, too little comedy; sometimes wooden writing. ( )

Such a sweet story and a great conclusion to the Spark sisters trilogy. The characters and situations are relatable and realistic.

Harley is the youngest spark sister who is struggling to find her place at Spark House, the event venue owned by the three Spark sisters. Gavin is a single dad still struggling with the death of his wife, 9 years ago, and trying to move on with his life. Peyton is the connection between these two characters. She is Gavin's daughter and Harley used to be her nanny when she was an infant.

The story for me was an emotional roller coaster and made me feel my feels; tears may have been involved at the end. ( )

Thank you Goodreads FirstReads for my complimentary ARC.

This is the third in Huntings’ Spark House series. Although I hadn’t read the first two, I plan to. I want to read Harley’s sisters’ stories. It took me entirely too long to finish this one and I am now regretting setting it aside.

Misread signals gone horribly wrong.

Harley Spark loved her job as Peyton’s nanny. Until that night. The night she almost kissed Gavin, Peyton’s widowed dad. As if losing her job was not bad enough, Gavin and Peyton moved across the state.

Working with her sisters in the family business, Spark House, an event management venue, is Harley’s life now. She is working a princess-themed birthday party when two familiar faces show up : Gavin and Peyton.

As flustered as she is, Harley considers the reunion as a one-off, a coincidence. They won’t meet again. Gavin wouldn’t want to after what happened, right? And she has her live-in boyfriend, Chad.

Only they do meet…several times. For Peyton. At least, that’s what both Hayley and Gavin tell themselves. Peyton is both the reason and the buffer.

I liked that the chapters were short and written from alternating perspectives.

This was such a fun read! It had it all. Sweet and steamy romance. Humor(sometimes, laugh-out-loud). Emotional highs and lows. Realistic family dynamics. And an insight into the event-planning industry. ( )

The 3rd and final book in the Spark House trilogy follows Harley, the youngest Spark sister. Years earlier, Harley was the nanny for Peyton, whose mother, Marcie, died in childbirth. Peyton's dad, Gavin, is still feeling guilt over the loss of his wife, but has feelings for Harley.
They must navigate this new relationship, while being conscious of Peyton's feelings. But Harley also loves princesses, glitter, and dressing up, so she is perfect for Peyton.
A nice ending to this trilogy of sisters finding love. It also addresses issues of loss, feelings, guilt, and step-relationships. I enjoyed it, an easy read. ( )

3⭐️

Make A Wish is the third book in the Spark House series.

If you like age gap tropes and workplace(ish) romance, this would be a book to consider. Harley was young when she worked for Gavin as a nanny. They get close, but something happens that causes Gavin to pick up his daughter, Peyton, and leave town. Years pass, and an unexpected reunion occurs.

My rating may have been affected by the fact that I did just jump into this series without reading/listening to the first two books. With that being said, I did not feel connected to the main character or Gavin, Peyton was funny and was really the only character that I was able to somewhat connect to. Another reason, was because I really couldn’t get passed the female narrator’s voice. It didn’t match how I imagined Harley sounding,
I feel like if I read Make A Wish instead of listening, I would have a connected with Harley.

Overall, the story was enjoyable, I just chose the wrong format. ( )
