Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received and downloaded this yesterday, and started reading right away. I finished it in less than a day, and I can't wait for the next one. The book is the first in a series, and one where I can see the author growing as they write. It's an Isekai style book, with the main character transported to another world. The descriptions and immersion are amazing, and I was able to just drown in the imagery, and enjoy the book. I enjoyed the relationship building and storyline. The plot was well imagined, and the execution was perfect. I'm really excited to have gotten to read this!A wonderful debut novel. First of all GK Chandler is an excellent storyteller. He also knows how to write. The Gateways of Alkademah is a classic quest story. The author draws us into a strange world with Marcus who just wants to find his way home. To do that he needs the help of people that need his help in return. I was very impressed with the character development and the author has a particular talent for dialogue. The Gateways of Alkademah is Book I in a series. I hope Mr Chandler doesn’t keep us waiting too long for Book II. Highly recommended! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Suppressed powers to travel from one world to another are accidentally released when under a great deal of pain and stress (and being in just the right place), however our ‘hero’ wanders this new world under the impression that he had hit his head and was dumped in the desert suffering concussion. When he eventually realises that that he is in a ‘real world’ unlike anything he has encountered he must seek to return to the world he knows and face the fact that he has inherited his father’s ability to be able to pass between the worlds utilising magic gateways.
Once ‘home’, everything is starting to look up, with a new job and a new love interest; however, he finds that “Akademah” (the other world) isn’t quite finished with him yet and he must return to save it with the help of an unlikely group of ‘friends’ along the way.
He can now get back to his life on earth, it’s all over …. Or is it?
Highly recommended reading for all ages. ( )
