I like the ex-lovers trope but found this oddly lacking in tension. Perhaps because there aren’t a lot of physical obstacles to Vinh and Emily getting back together -- they’re meeting in a place which gives them privacy, so I wasn’t on the edge of my seat wondering when they would get opportunities for personal conversations and so on, because they had such opportunities in abundance. But I was interested in the outcome of their investigation.

She felt like a combination of Moiraine Sedai (she’d wound up watching Wheel of Time after all) and just a cyber badass. She loved figuring out the puzzle. And she loved, loved, loved making sure bad guys got what was coming to them. ( )
