Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This is not my usual genre to read, but it was entertaining. I prefer more classics and historical drama, but this was a fun read, good for a summer beach trip or girls book club? Thanks for letting me read it! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Former Assistant District Attorney Miranda Quinn has a legal advice blog-turned-podcast Miranda Writes. This is about to become a daytime TV show, but the negative press about a case which got her fired three years ago could destroy her credibility. I hesitate between three and four stars. I liked it, but it could have been better, if the author wasn't so keen on giving a lot of details. And Miranda and also her witness Becky are both naive and gullible. Everybody in this story believes a little to fast things about somebody. Come on, a District Attorney who first wants to throw Miranda in jail and throw away the key based on a story which isn't even checked and then the same DA asks her to join him in the trial against the villain? No, please. Also: I'm not a legal professional, but some of the legal stuff was a bit strange. Nice stuff: the romance of Miranda's dad, it was cute. Also Miranda's own romance with Eric was nice. Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Fast paced mystery with intriguing characters- very easy to get lost in the story and read for hours without stopping. So much at risk and so little time to find out whodunnit.Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Thank you Librarything for the advanced digital copy of Miranda Writes by.Gail Ward Olmsted in return for an honest review.Miranda Quinn’s professional legal career imploded when a witness went missing on the eve of trial. It has taken time, but she is making a comeback, but so is the missing witness. The witness’s reappearance and the story being told has the potential to not only destroy her credibility again, but also to cancel her popular legal podcast as well as a tv show offer. This novel surprised me in the best of ways. I loved the clever title. The story was engaging, the characters were interesting and well-developed, and the quick pacing made for a quick and enjoyable read. My only constructive criticism is that the main character didn’t always feel authentic; at times her actions seemed questionable and didn’t feel true to the circumstances and for that I subtracted one rating star. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Gail Ward Olmsted brings her beautiful story telling and writing to a new crime drama, and boy am I hooked! This fast paced book follows Miranda and her super powers - empathy and justice! This attorney has had a rough go when she was let go from her job, after a key witness disappeared and she was blamed for it. Years later, the violent man who got away with assault is back at it, but her key witness has come back as well. Miranda is determined to help these girls, put this man away, and get justice for the betrayal that ruined her thriving career.
Overall, a fantastic read! I hope Gail turns this into a series. I binged this book so fast and I just could not put it down. I highly recommend it if you love a good crime drama.
Five out of five stars.
