The Gunn Prophecy predicts the abolishment of the Merciless, an inter-galactic military. To prevent this from happening, Minister Milos abducts Jake Gunn’s girlfriend. To increase Jake’s chances of finding his lover, he allies himself with Hut- Yo- Cull who is seeking retribution for the death of her parents to assume the throne and rebuild the race of Void Walkers. Dee Rose has a great idea with this book, though hard to finish due to multiple grammatical errors. The internal dialogue was very repetitive. I really enjoyed how Jake and Cull discovered their abilities and refined them. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. When I started reading this book, I noticed that the sentence syntax in the first few paragraphs, whilst unusual, made it hard to understand what was happening. Then I noticed that there had been no editing, with words that sound similar being used instead of the right word (well best guess for right word given context); missing words in numerous sentences, and a number of ‘sentences’ were just gobbledegook. There were also so many adjectives and descriptions of clothing or features or other details, that what is happening gets obfuscated. I got frustrated with reading what seemed to only be a couple of pages before being taken back in time. This happened again a couple of pages later. Between the jumps in time and place and the need to constantly work out what was meant in a sentence due to omitted words, I gave up reading on page 34. Normally I read all of a book as an Early Reviewer, even if it is not written well. This one was just too bad to keep on going. To me fiction books are inherently about the language and it is a joy when the language is good, or evocative, or makes you think - at the least the language needs to engage the reader. Fiction also requires a plot that flows and takes the reader on that journey. This book had none of these fundamental elements in the bit that I read. I think that this book was self published and it seems that the author is not aware of the benefits in hiring an editor… aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The plot didn’t grab me enough to make me feel comfortable with this level of violence. Although I was only several chapters in, it felt a bit formulaic with downtrodden regime trying to subvert the dominant order and bring equity to all.
