Ryker is chosen by the new expansion team in San Francisco. He had been hoping to get to the West Coast since his daughter lives there with her mother. When he gets there, he learns the mother is being promoted to Dallas. His daughter chooses to live with him. He meets his new neighbor, Avery, as he is moving next door to her. They hit it off immediately. His daughter, Ellie, also likes Avery. What happens in their future?

I enjoyed this story. There is no angst. It is apparent from the start they see no one but each other. Ellie is a good kid who is no problem at all. She and Avery come up with a workable plan when Ryker has to go on the road. It is a sweet simple love story with some loving going on. ( )

Ryker is a professional hockey player who has spent years playing across the country, but now he has a chance to be on a team that is close to his teenage daughter and he hopes things work out in his favor. He is a great dad who is supportive, always there when he can be, has a great coparenting relationship with her mother, and overall a kindhearted man. When he gets to be closer to her it makes his world complete. With some changes in a few plans he and his daughter move into a new condo next door to Avery who is super nice and instantly forms a friendship with them. As they form this bond things become more for Ryker and Avery with a little push from his daughter, Ellie their attraction intensifies. This book was a great introduction to this new series letting us meet new characters but also showing us the connection Ryker and Avery form. Avery is such a kind person and Ryker falls deeply is such a sweet read. I can’t wait to read more. ( )

Samantha Lind lights the lamp with RYKER (San Francisco Shockwaves #1). In this novel, Ryker Jorgensen is traded from the Indianapolis Eagles to the San Francisco Shockwaves in the expansion draft, becoming their first captain. The move also allows him to be in the same city as his teenage daughter, Ellie, who chooses to live with him. He needs to find someone to stay with his daughter when he is out of town. His neighbor, Avery, comes to the rescue. Meanwhile, Ellie tries to set them up.

RYKER is a sweet and heartfelt read. I love the characters. Ryker and Avery have great chemistry. I enjoyed the bond Avery and Ellie develop. Avery’s dog, Max, is a fun addition to the story. RYKER is a believable story with real-life situations and emotions. The characters face lots of challenges and changes. The story is skillfully written and flows well.

I am a fan of Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series. I enjoyed this story. It was the perfect transition to the San Francisco Shockwaves series. I’m looking forward to Aiden’s and Victoria’s story next. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. ( )
