Title: Free Fall (The Quantico Files #3) Author: Nancy Mehl Pages: 352 Year: 2022 Publisher: Bethany House Publishers My rating is 4 out of 5 stars. Alex Donovan and Logan Hart work for the FBI in the Behavior Analysis Unit (BAU). Their latest case is one that involves profiling a kidnapper. They don’t have much to go on and kidnappers aren’t their usual UNSUBs. Soon after the investigation is underway, they discover there are more victims from surrounding counties. Some cases are six years old. Are these women still alive? Alex and Logan workup a profile after much questioning and research. They are surprised to learn that all of the victims are young women, with dark colored eyes and long, dark hair just like Alex. The kidnapper breaks his M.O. and contacts authorities. He wants to meet Alex and promises to reveal the location of the other women. Alex is adamant that she go to the meeting to save these women, but Logan can’t bear the thought of Alex being harmed or kidnapped herself. On a personal level, Logan receives a medical diagnosis that could change his life. He has fallen in love with Alex but isn’t sure she loves him, so he delays telling her his feelings. Now that she could potentially be out of his life forever if the kidnapper takes her, he promises to tell her once she returns from the meeting. Alex is still dealing with PTSD from their last case where she was almost killed. Logan rescued her, but she tries to handle her mental and psychological issues herself. With Logan’s diagnosis, she tells herself she has to tell him how she feels, but will she be able to do so? It was difficult for me to get involved with this story. The plot was slower than her previous novels, and I didn’t connect with the main characters. The story is still worth reading. I liked how faith was evident in several places in the story. Alex and Logan had to contend with struggles that happened in their lives, to release control to the One with control of their lives and be at peace. I liked how the FBI Unit was like a family. I would recommend reading this author’s Kaely Quinn series, which is excellent. I’m looking forward to her new FBI series! Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility. The Quantico Files has been an exciting series and Free Fall is certainly a thrilling addition! I'm always amazed by author Nancy Mehl's ability to create such evil villains and the Ghost Rider may be one of the worst yet. Alex Donovan's commitment to stopping his madness and Logan Hart's efforts to protect her make this an intense tale filled with twists, turns, and non-stop danger. As they continue to encounter immense obstacles, there are many times when hope seems lost, but Alex and Logan possess great faith. They are true examples of believing in, and trusting in, the power of God! This is the third book with Alex and Logan, and we get to see their professional and personal relationship progress to a much deeper level. Yes, there is some romance but Free Fall is primarily a psychological thriller that is laced with a compelling faith message. I recommend it to all who enjoy Christian suspense novels. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts. Free Fall by Nancy Mehl is the third book in her Quantico Files series. FBI behavioral analyst Alex Donovan and Logan Hart must write a profile for a missing woman. While working on the case they find that there are more women missing across the state and they all look alike! This story was a roller-coaster ride. There were so many ups and downs. Alex is one tough lady. She has so much to overcome yet she never quits. We could all learn from her. I received this book from the publisher for my honest review. The author, Nancy Mehl, has woven an intense story that had this reader experiencing a feeling of fear and foreboding. To imagine the feeling of women kidnapped and imprisoned knowing nothing about their captors nor location. Their fear. Their anxiety. Their dread of impending doom. As police and FBI work together to analyze the criminals, all their skills as Behavioral Analysts are tested and retested. The two main analysts are Logan and Alex who are the main characters in the story. They also have a history from the previous Quantico Files #2 book, Dead Fall, and a developing romantic interest. The faith of the book's characters, Scriptural references and quotes, and prayer by characters bring a depth of realism that touches deeply the heart of Christian readers. Free Fall is an exciting, though scary, read and does well as a stand-alone story but is even more enjoyable if the reader has read the previous books Night Fall and Dead Fall. I received a complimentary copy to facilitate a review. Opinions are mine, alone & freely given. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I guess my only complaint would be that Alex was a character I struggled to like throughout the series and this book really did not change my opinion of her. She definitely is very good at her job, but was just not very likable in my opinion.
This book could be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the whole series from the beginning. Reading the other books will help you understand some of the characters better in this story plus the romance thread between Alex and Logan builds throughout all three books. ( )
