Sal's parents vanished years ago, leaving her as an unpopular monarch to lead the kingdom of witches in a war against the vampires that has spanned over two-hundred years. She is finally forced to surrender her kingdom to the vampire king, Kadence, who binds her magic as part of their agreement. Preferring to solve problems with her sword, Sal reluctantly relies on diplomacy to maintain the fragile peace. Kadence can't decide if he'd rather kiss or kill Sal, and his desire wars against his ingrained hatred of witches. The two fight each other as often as they battle the witch-vampire hybrids trying to assassinate them. But an approaching demon army is about to force them to work together or face the annihilation of both of their kingdoms. They must unite their people for a final battle, or bloodthirsty demons will consume everyone they vowed to protect. If their distrust and longing for revenge rekindles the ancient war, both kingdoms will fall before the demons even reach the front gates.… (plus d'informations)

I wasn’t really anticipating liking this book, but I really did find myself getting wrapped into the plot. I was intrigued by Sal and her innate need to protect her people. Her relationship did feel like it had less flow then the general plot of the story as a whole. All in all I’m really happy I read it, and I look forward to reading the next ( )

After Princess Sal’s parents disappear with half the army, she’s left to run a kingdom at war on her own. She cedes the war to Kadence, the new King to her Queen. Despite their dislike of each other due to the centuries-long war between their kingdoms, things begin to get complicated as they have to work together to run the new, large kingdom.
Witch Sal proves a strong, yet vulnerable FMC. Her selflessness to run a kingdom and put her people first, despite their lack of confidence in her abilities, is a testament to this. Vampire Kadence is standoffish and at times, prone to mood swings, as he grapples with overcoming a traumatic past.
I literally couldn’t put this book down. There’s some great steam in this story, and the tension was *chef’s kiss*. I found myself drawn into the story and feeling deeply for Sal and Kadence.
I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a gripping fantasy romance featuring witches and vampires.
Special thanks to City Owl Press for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are honest and my own.

Oh my, where do I start? 2 foes coming together in an uncanny way then flipping the plot for the ending with the romantic relationships just keeps it interesting! I couldn't put it down! Anyone who is a fan of vampires and witches will love this book!.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I'm a big fan of YA fantasy. The main character is a strong female character, a princess who was abandoned by her parents during the war of her people vs the vampires. She has to pick up the pieces and make the hard decisions for her people. In doing this, she ends up forming an alliance with the vampires. This was action packed with characters I loved. I look forward to reading future books by A.N. Payton.

If you're into Enemies-to-Lovers, Vampires, Magic, and Witches, then this is the book for you.

Sal is a Princess witch, who has been abandoned by her parents in the middle of a long war with the vampires. Sal isn't liked by her people, but she wants to protect them, so she agrees to surrender to the Vampire King, Kadence. She would have to become Queen, but he would control everything. She, of course, agrees for the good of her people and their survival.

But neither are prepared when another threat looms ahead. They both have to join forces and work together for their people. Can they get along and work together to win this new battle?

Hellfire and Honey is a quick read and really easy to get sucked into. The writing is easy and smooth. I love how brass Sal is and how brooding Kadence is. The relationship is brilliant. The plot makes sense and I love how it all comes together. There was a small part that was predictable and you know it's coming very early on, but the way A.N. delivers it is perfect and great. This is the first in her Eternal Alliances series and I'd definitely check out more! ( )
