I am very into books with this sort of premise: MFC and MMC are strangers that are thrown together by some sort of possibly supernatural, possibly fated situation. This is my jam, so I was very excited to read this book. And from that perspective, I was not let down. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance and interactions between these characters. And Noah! Be still my heart. So adorable. That said, some of the attempted character development for Nyla at the beginning did not work for me. It was too drawn out and some of her personality traits really irked me. I’m guessing the author thought this was necessary to justify some on the character’s behaviors later on, but it just went on way too long for me. I almost didn’t finish. Luckily the plot finally started moving forward right about the time I was ready to give up. So overall, I’m glad that I stuck with it and got to enjoy this sweet romance. But if you do decide to give this one a try, be prepared to wade through a bit of misery and lots of irritating character flaws to get to the good part. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. For Romance genre lovers, this is a good romance that is worth a readthrough. The two characters have great chemistry and you will love their interaction, banter and eventual agreement that they not only need each other, but love each other in sickness and in health. For others who have lost that loving feeling about the genre (that's me), eventually you may notice the book's flaws more than appreciate the romance. I liked the hook that tied the characters together, but hated having to admit that their 'allergic reaction to each other' needed to end in order for their relationship to be established on a realistic basis. I did not like the backstory of the main character and felt that it distracted more than hindered the characters' course to true love. I didn't understand why our heroine was reacting to events until we were near the end of the story. The story might have more effective if we had known her backstory earlier. The mystery around it was annoying. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I'll start off by saying that I really liked this author's writing. I found it really flowed well and she could illicit pictures in my mind with her style of writing. I also thought the premise of the book had potential although I had no idea where it was going to lead...
However, it didn't really lead anywhere for most of the book unfortunately and it was LONG. I should say I stay clear of books this long and when I requested the copy, I didn't realize it was that long. Long books for me (not being someone that reads long books) have to have a lot of action and inertia to propel me forward. This book just didn't have that for me.
Like I said, I did like her writing so I may try one of her other novels to redeem herself! ( )
