A lovely novella at Siren's Retreat where one can find true love. Anne Baxter is an heiress who's been left at the altar twice, leaving her reputation in tatters. Augustus, the newly minted Duke of Tindale, was the best man at the last debacle, but he's happy to find Anne on the beach when he attends a nearby house party.
Their romance is very sweet and both hero and heroine fit well together. The additional characters fill out their roles suitably, adding to the story as needed in the style of a Shakespearean comedy with a bit more froth. ( )

What I liked:
* Anne: intelligent, well spoken, capable, from good bloodlines, socially adept, brunt of much gossip, orphaned at thirteen, financially wise, an heiress, attractive if not beautiful, intrigued by Augustus, the Duke of Tindale
* Augustus: solicitor, recently inherited a dukedom, intelligent, kind, insightful, accepting, a good friend, wealthy enough, intrigued by Anne and wants her for his duchess
* Lily: a client of Augustus’s, in a wheelchair most of the time, good friend, wise, caring, deserving of more than most offer
* Knowing, eventually, what the truth is about the gossip around Anne
* That so many at the house party found mates by the end of the event
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Thinking about women as commodities – they had little choice but to marry and yet in marrying they often lost so much.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
