Private I. Guana is on the case to find Leon, a missing chameleon. He puts up posters everywhere, but to no avail. After going to a lounge, he listens to a chameleon play in a jazz band. He learns Leon was not missing, just performing as a female jazz artist. Leon is reunited with his wife, and they live happy after.
I am a huge fan of mystery books, and the reptile puns were great. I also liked that while Leon preformed as a female onstage, the author didn't use this to make cheap transphobic jokes. It was just a small detail in the story. ( )

The detective agent iguana was hired to find a lost chameleon. He eventually found him in a bar. The detective seen a chameleon on stage and then followed it back stage to see if he was the missing chameleon. It was the missing lizard he was trying to find. The detective couldn't understand why he was staying away from his wife when she was looking for him. He explained that he was scared that she would be ashamed of him. It was a great book. It teaches children that no one should be scared to be who they are not matter what anyone says or does. ( )

Confusing for a child to follow, but very interesting! Private I. Guana is a private investigator, who is now on the case of finding Liz's husband who is missing. Private I. Guana looked everywhere but could not find him and eventually he gave up and went to a local bar to eat. While at the bar, girls were singing and after their show he goes backstage to get their autograph and there was Liz's husband. He was the girl performing, Since he is a chameleon he was able to change his colors so no one would recognize him. This book was definitely intriguing and kept me guessing, however I think it could be difficult for a child to follow. I did love all of the alliterations and word choice in this book, it made the book more fun to read! It also sends a great message to readers and that is BE YOURSELF! You do not need to change or pretend to be someone else, show your talents and be proud of them. ( )

I like this story because it is interesting. This story is about a private investigator name Private I. Guana. Liz the chameleon said her husband is missing. Her husband is Leon, she said, he is very boring. Private I. kept looking for him everywhere, and he posts pictures of Leon. It was too late so Private I. gave up and went to a local bar to eat. When Camille and the Gila Girls performed, Private I. seen where Camille was amazing. However, Private I. went backstage for an autograph and realized Camille is Leon. This story teaches you that everyone has some type of talent, and you are not boring. I believe the theme is hope. The children would enjoy this story, and I love how the illustrations are colorful. This book could be used as a model text for making inferences, retelling a story, or even just the different settings in the story. I enjoyed the book but I found it to be a bit confusing. Leon goes missing and the detective does what it can to investigate what happened to Leon. The problem her is that the chameleon has changed colors and looks nothing like the pictures that were posted. This book allows children to use their imagination but it may also raise some questions from a child's perspective. This book would go good with a science lesson on reptiles. ( )
