In Larry Gottlieb’s book, Hoodwinked, he offers an alternative way of looking at the world and how we perceive things. He uses his background in physics and quantum physics to help give this different perspective. Larry states that the common sense or conventional wisdom so often used to give us a picture of the world is very inaccurate. It’s a very interesting read, one that I must admit I had to read a few times to try to get a better understanding of everything being presented. I do not see this as a negative thing, as I was really trying hard to see it from his point of view. He uses science to explain all kinds of things related to self-identify and personal growth. We humans believe we are our bodies, but the author asks what if our bodies are just part of the world that is a product of our observation. And our beliefs which can shape our world, what if we can change them, and tell a different story. To do this, you have to believe it and it can take effort and energy. Larry talks about how wherever we direct our energy is where our attention is, therefore, whatever we focus our energy on begins to grow and expand. What if we tell a different story and see if the world begins to confirm to that new view? It was an intriguing read that really makes you think. ( )

Hoodwinked is a philosophical look at how we perceive things. Larry Gottlieb takes ordinary experiences and objects and how we typically perceive them, and offers a new perspective on these experiences and objects. Our typical perspective is based on our experiences, and what we inherited based on what we have been told in our cultures. These experiences determine what we consider as possible. By looking at things differently, we can consider new options and possibilities. We can rewrite our story.
Interesting point of view. ( )

An Illuminating and insightful read from an author I was previously unaware of.

Hoodwinked by Larry Gottlieb is a fascinating book that offers the reader an alternative stance on life as we perceive it to be. Larry provides an alternative way to look at personal growth, and progression into self-discovery from deep within our being, enabling us to create a new reality for ourselves.

It was a tricky read at times and I did have to go back and reread a couple of chapters to wrap my head around it all, but overall it was more of a rewarding experience to do so. Hoodwinked challenged my mind and the way I think and feel about a number of issues. This is an interesting and engaging read. I think I fall a little short from describing it as transformational, but very entertaining nonetheless. Recommended. ( )

Colorado author Larry Gottlieb eared his degrees in physics from the University of California and MIT and uses that background to explore and investigate a way of observing the world and how human beings fit into the cosmology.

Inviting the reader into this philosophical journey, Larry uses fine illustrations and conversational prose that makes the experience easily accessible. He opens with a parable about how fish respond to their water world –‘For human beings of course, the water in this parable doesn’t represent a physical thing. Instead it takes the form of an explanation of what we see and hear. It is a conventional understanding we have of the world and our place in it. However, like the fish in our parable, we look through, and not at, this understanding. It is transparent …We never think about our idea of the world, and for the most part we’re not even aware we have one. It’s all we know. And the totality of how we look at ourselves, at life, at the world, our entire belief system, is based on this invisible understanding. For us humans, this conventional explanation is rooted in one fundamental idea: that the world exists pretty much as we perceive it to be, whether or not we are around to perceive it. It’s a natural, intuitive assumption. We all ‘know’ that when we look at something, we’re seeing it more or les the way it actually is. However, it turns out that there is a completely different interpretation we can make of what we see with our physical eyes. And that understanding leads to a stunning new vision of what it is to be a human being.’

This fascinating and challenging book is a refreshing invitation to rethink everything! Yes, Larry references physics and his preferred aspect of cosmology to lead the path to rethinking the world and ourselves. His writing is clear, easily accessible, and rich in thoughts – ‘I am considering a specific explanation in this work, and it is the one about who we really are and what the world out there really is…The purpose of the story I am telling in this book is to provide a platform upon which the seeker of truth can stand and look outward for him or herself.’ ‘What we think of as the physical world is actually an interpretation of the information sent to our brain by our senses.’ ‘The fulfillment of the heart’s desire is limited only by one’s resistance to it.’

Throughout the book Larry offers the ‘seer’s explanation’ and offers his insights that allow us to rethink and actually see ourselves and the world. Every reader will find a personal journey here, and reading this book is one of those illuminating moments we all need at this time – or any time is history or the future – to truly inhabit the world. Very highly recommended. ( )
