The Notebook Keeper is an amazing story that shows a family at the border and the kindness they encounter. I recommend this book to elementary classrooms as a way to teach and show kindness and what "the border" is. ( ) This book would be good for primary students. This book is "The Notebook Keeper" written by Stephen Briseno, illustrated by Magdalena Mora, and published in 2022. This book is about a young girl name Noemi and her mama and they are trying to immigrate to the United States but they have to add their number to a list of numbers and then they have to patiently wait for weeks in darkness and despair while they wait for their number to be called. A stranger shows them kindness and gives them hope while they wait. I think this would be a good book to teach about how difficult it is to immigrate and how scary it can be, but that kindness goes a long way. I think this has a good lesson that kindness can change someone' s entire outlook on life so to always be kind to others even when you are in despair yourself. To ANYONE who thinks that individuals from Mexico are illegal and not worth being treated as special, I say..... YEAH. RIGHT. This gorgeously written, impactful story is about hope. Of belief. Of encouragement that those who seek asylum WILL find it. Oh the author's note about did me in y'all/ Knowing that this notebook has a history, a history that also faded with Covid, oh that hit HARD. Read this book and have a conversation. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

HTML:Based on true events, this inspiring story follows a mama and her daughter who are denied entry at the U.S. border, and must find the refugee in charge of the notebook, an unofficial ledger of those waiting to cross into the U.S. Before, the sun drenched the yard. Our neighbor's laughter danced in the streets. Now, the streets are quiet. Papa is gone, and we are no longer safe here. We are leaving, too. In this moving picture book, Noemi and Mama flee their home in Mexico, and head for the US border. There, they look for "The Notebook Keeper" the person in charge of a ledger for those waiting to cross, and they add their names to the book. As the days turn into weeks, and hope dwindles, the little girl looks for kindness around her and inside herself. One day, when the Notebook Keeper's own name is called to cross, Noemi and her Mama are chosenfor the generosity in their hearts to take her place. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
