Shang-Chi has taken over his father's criminal organization with an eye to reforming it, but the heroes of Marvel Universe wonder if they can still trust him as they come sniffing around and butting heads with Shang-Chi and his newfound half-siblings.

The first volume was interesting for integrating Chinese history, but this one does some unwanted juvenile course correction by becoming a full-on team-up adventure with big hitters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four dropping in every chapter. It then reaches for the highest levels of ridiculousness as Shang-Chi holds his own head-to-head and toe-to-toe against Marvel's mightiest in mandatory hero vs. hero smackdowns.

I'll still check out the next volume, but I'm hoping they dial down the superheroics significantly. ( )
