The beginning of this book has two Amazon reviews for this book. I personally do not like seeing that sort of thing. If you are already holding the book and reading it from wherever you obtained/ purchased it, it seems unnecessary to be given Amazon reviews (or any reviews) for the book. A mention of the book would be enough such as when there is a series and it is one of many books by the same publisher. I noticed that there is a “GRE Books in Test Prep Series” section which is more than enough.

Like the other GRE books that I reviewed, it may be my epub reader or the book itself, but I wanted to make sure it was known that there is a lack of space between the chapter number and chapter title in the table of contents which is hard to overlook.

In chapter/ section 4 of the table of contents, an “i” is missing from “Issue Task 4 - Free university education”. Also, there is capitalization in the first two sections, but not in the rest. Though they are essay topics, it helps to have consistency throughout the table of contents.

The overview of the book has information about the GRE in great detail. If I did not have access to any of the other books, my questions would still be answered.

The amount of content that this book has is tremendous but done so perfectly well. 72 issue tasks and 73 argument tasks is double the amount of tasks in book 2 which makes it a great starting tool and test takers may not even need book 2, but book 2 is still a valuable tool to have in addition to book 1. The sample essay provided along with the explanation on how to 1. Analyze the task (issue or argument) and 2. Strategies you can use are extremely helpful. There is not anything lacking in this area of the book to mention.

I took the GRE many years ago and am considering taking it again to enter a PhD program in the future. Overall I am very impressed with this preparation book. I appreciate that this guide includes an overview of the GRE General test. It is very thorough and user friendly. I like that the book includes general strategies and scoring guides for the essays. There are many examples of tasks across various topics. The general questions to ask yourself in the organizing and planning process are very helpful. I appreciate the similar structure and repetition of each example task. With practice, approaching the task with that same framework will be natural allowing the test taker to thoroughly respond to the prompt. Since it has been many years since I took the test, I appreciate that this book includes information about the post COVID test. There are many books in this series which allows the test taker to prepare for each part of this test, as well. I remember studying for this test and my study guide mainly focused on the Verbal and Quantitative portions of the exam. I missed out on the opportunity to prepare for the essay. It is great to see an entire book dedicated to it! Thank you! ( )

This GRE prep book is a great tool to have to prepare for the exam.  It lays out what to look for, how to analyze the topics and gives you suggestions and strategies on how to approach answering the questions.  The essays they provide make you think about how YOU would answer the questions and they give you ideas on how to deconstruct the questions so that you can answer them with your own words.  They give you the rubric for how you will be graded and also give you the time you will be given for the sections so that you can efficiently plan your approach.   If you follow the advice given, you will be able to analyze any question given to you and answer fully.   All in all, it's a great book to use if you are going to be taking the general GRE writing test.

This Supreme edition appears to differ from the Book 1 version only in the number of examples it offers. With each sample passage analyzed in detail, candidates preparing for the GRE will learn the skills needed to succeed in the Analytical Writing section of the test. For each sample passage a suitable essay answer illustrates how to respond, although these might be more helpful if they were accompanied with some notes explaining why they are good responses.
