This is the fourth book in the guardians of the temple saga, in this book Cassandra gives birth to Ryan and as it grows up people notice he is stronger than other boys. Then as an adult he becomes an apprentice to a doctor and is in tuned with the illnesses of his patients before knowing their ailments. It isn’t until he start craving the taste of blood and at the same time falls in love that everything starts going to skew. Queen Theresa has called born investigation due to strange happenings at night. This is when we see Gregory again and he insist that Cassandra died during the great war. When Cassandra seeds Audrey and Audrey tells her that Harkin never loved her, but let her live because of her baby. Cassandra believes her but it’s so angry at all the turmoil she went through thinking a lot about her. There is so much more to this book and just know it can be read as a standalone. I think this author is really good at Darkside by and has found her niche I truly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one. I highly recommend this book if you love dark sci-fi and paranormal you’ll love this book. ( )

I was not expecting to finish this so fast. Its not a very long book but it does keep you on your toes. It ends with a cliffhanger but gives you a glimpse of the next book.

I have a soft spot for vampire stories and I like how different this was. There is a lot of history in this book that I would like to know more about. Ryan seems super interesting and I liked the chapters that focused on him. His ability go read things when he touches them is super duper cool and I wonder what more he has hidden. ( )

Arising Son Part One by Marie Montine
Book startgs with a quote.
Started with a prologue from 20 years ago when Cassandra was about to give birth, she recalls others in the area wearing black robes and magic all around her.
Story follows Ryan, now in the medical field and he knows there is something different about himself. His mother is not very open to telling him as he's just a young man still.
Her clan had clashed with another and he was the result. She had been tending to his daily feedings of blood as he can only have a certain type of blood. He feels an urging but has no clue what it entails.
Things come to a head when the clan want to destory him and his mother Cassandra. They had thought she had died all these years, she was so far hidden in a small area.
Ryan also has fallen for a waitress at the local restaurant and he asks other males about flirting and other hormonal events in his life.
Big fight brings out the good in some and the bad in others. He had no idea what his mind had led him to do, like he had no control over it.
Loved watching Barnabas from the local TV series set in a town nearby. He was a vampire and there were so many other creatures around you could believe it was really going on at times.
This story reminds me of that as the other creatures do come out and their characteristics are brought to life.
About the author is included at the end along with a message from her.
Excerpt from the next book in the series is included at the end.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion. ( )

Arising Son: Part One: The Guardians of the Temple Saga by Marie Montine tells of Cassandra's deepest secrets coming to life. From the beginning, Cassandra understood the reluctance of bringing offspring into this world. Would he be mankind's greatest foe...or greatest gift? Ryan Reyn has a gift of clairvoyance, which allows him to see illnesses through his hands. Helpful for a doctor, but the truth behind his art opens a new world to him. When his best friend, Walter, asks for his help, Ryan finds out more about himself and his unique race of people. Secrets kept that put many people in danger.

With a steamy rush of mysterious beginnings and riveting twists, Marie Montine begins the next part of her Guardians of the Temple Saga in Arising Son: Part One. The novel is superbly written with well-rounded characters. There is an intricate weave of past characters and present secrets. From the beginning, I could not put this novel now and look forward to reading the next installment. I highly recommend this novel to lovers of the dark fantasy genre. ( )

Arising Son: Part One: The Guardians Of The Temple Saga by Marie Montine is captivating from page one. A child named Ryan is born to Cassandra in the riveting opening pages. But Ryan is no ordinary child we come to find out, while the tale weaves itself in and out of turmoil. The plot is fast-paced, while the characters are quite relatable and fallible. There's a strong balance here of fantasy woven with reality, giving this tale an extra edge. With a deft hand, Montine has woven a fascinating tale, one filled with the taste for blood and the paranormal. A great read for teens and young adults, along with anyone who likes paranormal fantasy. Recommend. ( )
