Michela Marzano intertwines the family past with the most controversial pages in the history of Italy. All her life she committed herself to being on the right side: the fascists were the others, the ones to fight against. Until one day she discovers the past of her grandfather, a convinced fascist of the first hour. Why has no one ever told her the truth? Was it a secret to be ashamed of or an unconsciously erased piece of history? Following the thread stretched through the events of her family, between grandfather Arturo and grandson Jacopo, the author redraws the path that made her the woman she is today, studded with doubts and reflections: the complicated relationship with motherhood, the link between blood, heritage and memory, and that past with which Italy has never really come to terms.
