Get Rich or Get Lucky by Max Nowaz is about Adam the protagonist who purchases a dilapidated house that he is renovating. He comes across a German book that has spells. As he tries one to his surprise it worked. Adam invites his friends Charlie and Dick to show them. Charlie and Dick laugh at Adam as they think the whole thing is just silly. Dick tries a spell and nothing happens. When Adam does the same spell on Dick he turns into a Crayfish. After a spell is used from the book the sky rains which results the loss of Dick the Crayfish who was being held in the pond with 3 other Crayfish.

Adam tries to turn Dick back but then his house is burgled and the book goes missing. Rachael, Dick’s wife comes looking for him. Adam plays it cool. Who would believe him anyway? Adam has several people coming to the house to help fix it up, in particular is the roofer Daley who seems to act suspicious after Adam’s house was burgled. What about the nosey neighbors who always seem to know what is going on but actually misses the strange goings on at Adams house.

When Rachael reports Dick missing, Charlie gets questioned and Adam becomes the polices main interest. With Dick’s disappearance life seems to be looking up for Charlie. Charlie walks with a sense of confidence while the ladies are drawn to him but he keeps coming back to the notion he needs to get the book back and find a way to bring Dick back.

I found this book to have a steady semi slow pace, but started to pick quite rapidly about 75% in. I absolutely loved the ending! I recommend Get Rich or Get Lucky to those who enjoy a semi realistic but fantasy style novel. There is a lot of drama but a sense of humor, particularly to Adam. ( )

I’ve read Nowaz before, and I didn’t hesitate to jump right into this book when I saw it. He’s a skilled writer, which holds for this book full of dark humor. I mean, a crayfish? Haha. Adam is an unfortunate hero that really can’t seem to catch a break. The “get lucky” part of the title is amusing because of how many unfortunate circumstances Adam finds himself in.
Adam struggles to find a way to get out of the dredges of a grinding lifestyle by shooting for a quick house-flipping strategy. This is relatable because I think we all dream of doing something like this to make ends meet and stop punching clocks for others. I almost feel bad for Adam from the get-go; it’s hard to put this book down with all the wild twists. I constantly kept wondering what Adam would get into next, right up until the very end.

I recommend this book. It’s a great read, and the pace will help the time fly. ( )

This fantasy thriller is full of unexpected twists and turns. The interesting characters and storyline kept me hooked throughout. Moments of hilarious black comedy is very entertaining.

The story is about Adam who found a magical book. The spells mentioned in the book when performed by Adam, things started to go South. When Adam's house is broken into and the book is stolen, things continue to spiral out of hand. He subsequently learns that the book is being sought by a strong, evil warlock.

The author has used a proper quotient of mystery that will keep the readers intrigued throughout. The best thing about good fantasy books is they take you along with the character on their adventurous journey and never fail to thrill you, this is one such book. ( )

I found Get Rich or Get Lucky to be a really enjoyable and unconventional book. It’s definitely one of my favourite books over the last 12 months. I read this book in three days, so for me was one of those “couldn't put down” novels. The cast of characters are engaging and well drawn-out, and there are many plot twists which had my mind racing and heart thumping. It kept me guessing about storyline developments which is great for me as I hate predictability in a novel, they bore me.

From the author of the sci-fi adventure The Arbitrator, Get Rich or Get Lucky is a dark-humoured fantasy thriller that had me engrossed all the way through. I think it will appeal to readers who enjoy fantasy fiction, in addition to those who also enjoy fast-paced thrillers. ( )

Get Rich or Get Lucky by Max Nowaz is a fantastically quirky book and one that grabs your attention from the first few pages. The story is a great amalgamation of fantasy, science fiction, thriller and plain old fun. What a wild ride indeed as Adam looks into a new business venture of flipping houses. Soon that dream is upended as a book he discovers turns his world upside down. Adam discovers it is a book of magic, and unfortunately, it might not be the kind of magic he wants or needs. There are plenty of magical, quirky, and unexpected happenings in this fun, fast-paced thriller. Dark humor abounds too. You will love this entertaining and fast paced book. Highly recommend. ( )
