The Lighthouse Effect: How Ordinary People Can Have an Extraordinary Impact in the World by Steve Pemberton is the follow-up book to his highly successful first book, A Chance in the World. Steve had a horrible childhood, ending up in foster. Those experiences fostered his need to write these inspiring books and bring hope to many people. It's amazing how certain people in our lives show up at the right time, providing solace and a positive force. In the author's experience, these people kept him going, even in very small ways, by giving books to him, and being mentors as well. This is an emotional and inspirational read and one worth delving into. You will find that you can relate easily to the author and what he went through. You may even be a lighthouse in someone's life, without even realizing it. Highly recommend. The Lighthouse Effect by Steve Pemberton is more than a novel of inspirational stories of people finding that one thing or person that inspires them to do or be a greater person. This book compares the majestic and powerful stance of a Lighthouse, willing to stand against the wiles of the ocean, and the trials facing you now. Though the water beats against the Lighthouse and the shores that hold it at bay, the Lighthouse gives direction, guidance, and a life-saving light to those around it. I feel Steve Pemberton, in The Lighthouse Effect, touched my life now as I needed a little nudge to pivot from where I am at to a different focus point. You read about others who have faced heavy trials and found their guiding light; you feel as if you can conquer the storm you are facing. The author includes tools and steps to guide you to a clearer path. I highly recommend this book for inspiration and channeling your life in a desirable direction. I wish I could give this book more then five stars, it deserves more than that. The Lighthouse Effect brought me so much peace and a reminder that, although I didn't realise at the time, my life has been touched by many "lighthouses" in the past, for which I am eternally grateful. For as it was partly the actions of those individual that have led me to where I am today! The Lighthouse Effect made me sit and reflect on these people "Lighthouses" and yes, they are the real heroes. The kind of people that probably didn't know just how important their kind acts, words and advise were in helping me succeed. The book is very well-written and I love how author Pemberton brings out very practical encouragement that anyone can use to become a beacon of hope for others. I very highly recommend this, and will definitely reread again in the future. In the lighthouse affect by Steve Pemberton tells us about the award-winning foster family he was placed with. Unfortunately it was all a lie and Steve was abused throughout his stay there. Thanks to a school counselor in an offhanded comment about how if he ever had kids he would love to have one like Stephen, that puts Stephen in a loving supportive place. There are many things to love about this book and Steve’s inspirational stories and the analogies or just the beginning. This book is full of inspirational quotes. Throughout the whole book all I wanted to do was give Steven a hug. By the end of that you are so proud of what this man accomplished. This can be read in one sitting and thank God it came in, because you will not want to stop reading it. I almost didn’t get it but in the end I’m so glad I did and can’t wait to read his first book. I highly recommend this book if you love books with personal inspirational stories you’ll definitely love this one. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

“Transformation via kindness takes time and requires us to continue doing the right thing over and over until it becomes part of who we are."
Let’s face it, that’s not a bad thing to aspire towards. I mean, the world could do with more kindness and good deeds towards other humans, as a very good place to start. That one good deed or kind word to a neighbour can absolutely change someones life for the better and knowing that you have helped someone has to feel pretty good too. The Lighthouse Effect is a very well-written and enjoyable read, with such positivity that can result from having done so. Highly recommended. ( )
