"The third pulse-pounding novel in an epic fantasy series set in the same world as the wildly popular Red Sister, following an outcast who will fight with everything she has to survive. On the harsh planet of Abeth, covered with ice except along a narrow corridor, Yaz has had to fight hard to survive, and she's made friends-and enemies-along the way. The Convent of Sweet Mercy, like the Corridor itself, is packed with peril and opportunity. Yaz needs the nuns' help-but first they want to execute her. The fate of everyone squeezed between the Corridor's vast walls, and ultimately of those labouring to survive out on ice itself, hangs from the moon. And the battle to save the moon centres on the Ark of the Missing, buried beneath the emperor's palace. Everyone wants Yaz to be the key that will open the Ark-the one the wise have sought for generations. But sometimes wanting isn't enough"--… (plus d'informations)

And so we're back in the corridor, at Sweet Mercy, where it all began in the original trilogy.

Once again, i felt that dragging tedious feeling i had with the previous books in this trilogy, except this time it wasn't due to plodding over the ice.   This time it mostly came down to this never ending cat and mouse game with Seus and Eular, both of which aren't very exciting baddies and don't exactly get one excited.   In fact they just continued to disappoint me with the fact that they keep not dying when that's all i wanted them to do from about 50% in, just so we could get it all over with.

Ok, i have to admit that i read the whole trilogy all the way through, so it couldn't have been that bad.   But, it definitely could have been a lot better and lot lot lot faster paced.

Anyways, it's all over now and i can go and read some other more exciting things. ( )

It's no secret that Mark Lawrence is one of my very favorite authors, but this book...I can't think of any other author who could write three series of books in very disparate worlds and tie them up so neatly without gimmicky or forced writing.
The Broken Empire series and The Red Queen's War series both take place in a dystopian version of earth that feels fantastical. The Impossible Times series takes place in 1990-2020ish England and features D&D and time travel. The Book of the Ancestor series and the Book of the Ice series take place in Abeth, a planet far from our galaxy. Yet in the 400 pages of The Girl and the Moon, Mr. Lawrence managed to write an epic finale to all those series. We get to meet some characters from the previous books once more though often in different guises. Events that took place in those other series have impacts on what happens in this book.
I guess what I'm saying is that you need to read all those other books first before attempting this one. Oh, this trilogy stands on its own too, but the riches showered on the reader here if you've read the other books first are amazing.
The story picks up where The Girl and the Mountain ended. Yaz and her friends have reached the green belt and are about to be executed. I tried to stretch this book out and savor it but it is such a roller coaster of a story. Yes, I'm gushing but I really love Mark Lawrence's books.
I still have Road Brothers and Bound on my Kindle so I'll use them to span the wait until The Book That Wouldn't Burn comes out. Or maybe I'll reread Prince of Thorns (Jorg is one of my favorite fantasy characters and yes, I like dark characters). I don't want to give away too much of the story for The Girl and the Moon, so I'll just repeat: go read Mark Lawrence books NOW! ( )
