Cherry Bakewell loves to cook with her family and now you can join in too! Follow her adventures, making each recipe as you go, but watch out for Rickster Raccoon, he's a bit mischievous! This book is a delightful children's story/cookery book. It is interactive, making it fun for kids of all ages and something that can be enjoyed with the family. Kids can read the story, which has a recipe within it, then at the end of the chapter, the recipe is printed for them to have a go themselves. Some of the ingredients are printed in red, which they need to make a note of, then they have to guess what the final secret recipe is at the end of the book, using the red ingredients. The beautiful illustrations were done by Lara Kerem and really bring the book to life. Review The author uses her extensive knowledge as a cook to include recipes that are easy to make and safe for young children. You can tell from the writing how passionate Bevan is about this book. The fact that she wrote it as a tribute to her late mom, who taught her how to cook, is reflected in the writing. The interaction between mom and daughter is interesting, but also real and relatable, which makes the book feel authentic. For these reasons, I give it an easy 4 out of 4 stars. The stories are engaging and beautifully done - www.OnlineBookClub.org About the Author Growing up in south east Kent, Jane Bevan lost her mum to cancer when she was only 15. Her mum, Mary Rose Polden, was the one who taught her to cook and she has now been running a successful catering business for over 20 years, winning a Kent Women in Business Award in 2015 and an Independent Business Award in 2017 thanks to knowledge from Mary. December 2019 marked 40 years since Mary died and Jane Bevan has written her first book, in memory of her mum, based on some of the experiences they had as a family. With no writing experience, the book has drawn directly from the memories she had as a child with her mum. 10% of royalties will be going to Cancer Research UK in her memory. Jane wants young children to experience the same nurturing her mum gave her and she wants them to have fun whilst learning a vital life skill.… (plus d'informations)

A charming children's book, full of fun family orientated stories written on sweet memories by the author.
Although this is not a cookbook, the recipes in each account are brilliantly told along side a delightful story. The variety of recipes are easy enough for any child to help out with. It would be a lovely fun way to get kids involved in cooking with the knowledge surrounding it. Having said that, it would even be a pleasure to read this book without getting your hands dirty!
Overall this book is very well written and entertaining. It would please any young child and parent alike. ( )

What a cute and entertaining book for kids and even adults!

Each chapter in this book is a story with Cherry and her and her family making a recipe, which is given at the end of each chapter. My kids really enjoyed listening to me read the story to them and even asked for a few of the recipes to cook together.

I also really love that each recipe has certain ingredients in red for you to figure out what bonus recipe is at the end. I figured this one out kind of quickly - one of top favorites to bake - but the kids enjoyed that as well. And the illustrations were adorable and cute. ( )
