A murderous plan is put in motion with stakes higher than anyone can imagine. Award-winning photographer Carine Winter does whatever it takes to get the perfect shot. So she accepts the job of photographing Sterling Rancourt's historic Boston home knowing she's taking a riskÂ?she could run into Tyler North, the pararescuer who all but left her at the altar a year ago. Then Carine finds a body in Rancourt's houseÂ?and the prime suspect in the murder is Tyler North's best friend. When Tyler hears about the murder, he rushes to see his friend Manny, expecting him to ask for help. Instead, Manny urges Tyler to protect Carine, to take her back to Cold Ridge and away from the temptation to meddle in a murder investigation. What Tyler learns is that Carine's at the center of a deadly game. And the only person she can trust is the person she vowed never to trust again: him. But they're running out of timeÂ?because a killer has followed them to Cold Rid… (plus d'informations)

If you've read any of Carla's "Cold" books you will quickly feel the Deja Vu. I liked the book but don't read it or the other "Cold" books too closely together. There is A LOT of overlap and redundancy. ( )

Carine and Tyler were once planning their future, when Tyler walked away from their relationship. Now, Carine is a photographer who keeps stumbling into questionable situations, but when Tyler shows up to keep her safe, she is less than pleased.

As a romantic suspense, this is definitely a fun read. It has a good story, interesting characters, and a beautiful setting; with enough suspense thrown in to keep the reader engaged. It is on par with a chick flick movie, meaning a fun read for an enjoyable, diverting evening. If you enjoy romance with a twist of suspense, you will enjoy this one. ( )

This book left me both wanting more and wanting less. I wanted more character development. I didn't feel connected to them at all and their motivations were often unclear. Carine, the female lead, was described as this independent, strong willed woman, yet her behavior and actions often said the opposite. The plot was interesting but slow and none of the action - suspense or romance - had enough substance to really hold my interest.

What I wanted less of was the unnecessary description. We're given pages of information on the scenery. We're given lots of detail on the process of becoming a pararescuer and the required skills. None of this was particularly fascinating to me and it often repeated throughout the book. The characters inner thoughts are often repeated as well, as they continually contemplate each other and the issues around them.

Overall, this is a good read, though easily forgettable. ( )

This book didn't really hold my interest until the last 5 or 6 chapters, then I got into it. Maybe it was just me this week. It ended up being a good mystery and I didn't figure it out. ( )

Carine Winter loaded her day pack with hiking essentials and her new digital camera and headed into the woods, a rolling tract of land northeast of town that had once been dairy farms.
