"Rizzoli & Isles is back! From New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, the most harrowing installment has Jane and Maura investigating a brutal murder with dire implications, and this time, with Jane's intrepid mother, Angela, looking into a mystery of her own. "Suspense doesn't get any smarter than this." -LEE CHILD, on the Rizzoli & Isles series Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles are newly plagued by what seems like a completely senseless murder. Sofia Suarez, a widow and nurse who was universally liked by all her neighbors, lies in her own home, brutally bludgeoned. But anything can happen behind closed doors, and Sofia seemed to have plenty of secrets in her last days, making covert phone calls to old contacts and traceless burner phones. When a connection is made between Sofia and the victim of a hit-and-run months earlier, the case grows even more blurry. What exactly was Sofia involved in? One thing is clear: the killer will do anything it takes to keep their secret safe. Meanwhile, Angela Rizzoli hasn't had a decent night's sleep in all the years since her daughter's become a homicide detective. Maybe the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. Nothing in her neighborhood gets by Angela-definitely not the strange neighbors who have just moved in across the street. In a sleepy town like Angela's, there is no such thing as coincidence, if only Jane would listen. Instead, she writes off Angela's concerns as the result of an overactive imagination. But Angela's convinced there's a real wolf in her vicinity, and her cries might now fall on deaf ears. As old sins cast long shadows, Jane and Maura will have to race to discover the truth before the darkness consumes them"--… (plus d'informations)

This one is done in multiple points of view. In this book it was handled very well, without switching to often. This particular novel focuses on Angela Rizzoli.

Angela believes firmly in see something, say something. So much so that she cries wolf often enough that Jane starts ignoring her calls, right when there really is something.
This book is very well plotted and paced. I really enjoyed my time with it. ( )

Rizzoli & Isles: Listen to Me by Tess Gerritsen

Jane and Maura investigate the murder of a Nurse (Sofia Suarez) bludgeoned in her own home. As the investigation progresses (they) find she may hold secrets connecting to another case.

Angie (Jane's Mother) is suspicious of her new neighbors. She does a bit of investigating on her own, which can put her life in danger.

Moving at a steady pace, with attention to detail, engaging dialog and a bit of quick wit had me engrossed from the start. Interesting neighbors on Angie's block adds a bit of humor and mystery to this (new) installment in the Rizzoli and Isle series.

Overall I enjoyed Listen to me and recommend to fans of Tess Gerritsen and those who enjoy a good procedural crime story. ( )

There was no more powerful force in the world than a parent’s love for a child. A beautiful, terrible love that had led to the murders of two innocent people.

This was a perfectly fine thriller, but it didn’t have the gripping quality of ice cold, vanish or last to die. I found it pretty easy to guess the ending. Or maybe I’m not 14 anymore. ( )

I will have to admit that despite my familiarity with both this author and the tv series inspired by this series, I have never actually read a Rizzoli and Isles novel. I don’t really know how it happened, but here we are. The nice thing about being new to the series and starting at book 13 is that it seems I didn’t need a thorough background to keep pace with this story. This is a new investigation which finds our heroine, Rizzoli investigating the brutal death of a middle aged nurse who is bludgeoned to death with a hammer in her own home. Despite this looking like a burglary gone wrong, something isn’t adding up for Rizzoli, she just can’t quite place what it is. There is more than one storyline in this novel, and more than one investigation. For Rizzoli to solve the case of the bludgeoned nurse, she must also solve the decades old homicide of a young mother and the subsequent disappearance of her three year old daughter. I will admit while I had an idea about how this story was going to unfold, I was a little surprised about just who was responsible for the death of the nurse. The best authors always manage to surprise you in the end, and Tess Gerritsen succeeds here. This may not be a nail biter on every page otherwise, but it has a twist at the end, and it brings us the wonderful characters that have become synonymous with the Rizzoli and Isles name. Thank you to Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review. ( )
