"A by-the-book literary agent must decide if happily ever after is worth changing her whole life for in this insightful, delightful new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. Nora Stephens life is books-she's read them all-and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters' trip away-with visions of a small town transformation for Nora who she's convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they've met many times and it's never been cute. If Nora knows she's not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he's nobody's hero, but as they are thrown together again and again-in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow-what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they've written about themselves"--… (plus d'informations)

I’ll start with the positives, great pacing. If there’s something that Emily doesn’t miss on is this. Second, the banter was funny and crazy good.

But this book could have been edited better. There were so many lose sentences and things the story could have done without completely. At some point it got tiring

I also wish we got more of the male MC. ( )

Reading a book that is everywhere-buzzworthy is a precarious thing. I was afraid that was the case with my first official summer read. But I’m blaming that initial fear on the first 67 pages being read at night during the last week of school (not sure there’s anything that can keep an exhausted teacher’s attention late at night during the final days of a frazzled school year). Because the last 310 pages were devoured overnight—on my first official day of Summer Break. I laughed out loud (a lot); I was surprised; my heart hurt in moments; I loved the people, the place, and the plot. In short, this book has the answer to one of its central questions: can you have it all? The answer for this book is yes—yes, there are books that have it all, and this was the perfect one to start off my summer reading. ( )

I’m a sucker for a book about books, writers, bookstores, anything up that alley. ( )

One-dimensional characters, endless whining, charmless interactions, and a failed attempt at sending up the classic small town romance trope. ( )

When books are your life—or in my case, your job—you get pretty good at guessing where a story is going.
