"The Arbitrator" I’ll start with the characters, Jim Brown (the main protagonist). This man's had a rough go of it, and just when you think he's hit rock bottom, the universe throws him a bone. Or, more accurately, a mission.
Gina. She's the kind of character that sticks with you. Her interactions with Brown are charged, to say the least, it's complicated, and it's oh-so-human.
The world-building is stellar (literally). Pirrus? I could almost feel the alien soil beneath my feet. There was plenty of political intrigue, power, rebellion, and redemption that kept me on edge.
Brown’s transformation is what got hold of me the most. Without giving too much away, let's just say that the journey he undergoes is both external and internal, Like a dance between who he was and who he becomes.
A wild ride, filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing all the way through. Its unpredictable and unforgettable, and best of all great characters. Highly recommended. ( )

The Arbitrator by Max Nowaz is a 29-chapter sci-fi novel that deals with concepts like space travel, space colonization, and drug addiction, bringing to the attention of the reader the character of Jim Brown, a former renowned Administrator of the EPA, due to his addiction to a parasite drug. His only chance at life was the renewal procedure, but to achieve that, he needed to accomplish his task on Pirrus of establishing order and catching the rebels. Little does he know that the rebels are not the only threat to his goal.

I sincerely say that as I started reading the book, the first impression that the character of Jim Brown aroused in me was a feeling of unpleasantness through his behavior toward Gina and others and his drug addiction. Although his behavior improves, I remain unattached of his character, even as I reach the end of the book. This implies that the author did a good job portraying the desired character, but unfortunately, the beginning ruined my initial impression. One aspect that I really appreciated was the attention to detail and descriptions that the author put into the book. It was super easy to create mental images of the story’s characters and scenes. The Arbitrator is a Sci-Fi novel that follows Jim Brown, a 153 year old administrator who is currently serving a prison sentence for tax fraud. Whilst in prison he develops a nasty drug habit that is killing him, however he is offered a reprieve if he can stop the rebellion on another planet and this is where the action, drama and intrigue begin!

I thought this was a great story. Pretty edgy, and even funny at times, with a few twists that I didn't see coming. It would be hard to talk about the book without giving some of the plot away, but it kept me reading and engaged in a way I hadn’t anticipated when I began reading, and I did generally find it hard to put down. If you haven't read this book but you like these type of books I urge you to do so. You can expect fun packed ride that keeps the pages turning into the early hours. ( )

A science Fiction novel that will change course at every chance. A very well written story, this book focuses in a recluse that is given a second chance, his crimes had landed him a new position and a new opportunity to be a sort of hero.

This book has a little bit of romance, a lot of action and so much more. Give this book a chance and you wont be able to put it down. ( )

The Arbitrator had it all for me, action, adventure, a great plot twist, even a bit of romance. Protagonist Jim Brown is on a journey of self discovery which develops which develops pretty well as the book progresses. It’s a well thought out concept accompanying a great storyline. The rest of the characters are entertaining and engaging. The book is very fast paced and wastes no time getting to the excitement pretty early on, which got me hooked while only a short way into the book.

Overall The Arbitrator is a really gripping story. The plot line that was a little quirky and Jim Brown is a bit of a bad guy which for me made it even better. Definitely worth the read. ( )
