It's 1975; there is controversy about quotas, affirmative action programs and reverse discrimination. What does this mean for one young man who is determined to improve his life? Jerry has ambitions of going to college and gets accepted into a predominantly white school, Bucknell University. His quest for furthering his education is hindered by negative influences and expectations which predict an outcome of failure. As he struggles with his insecurities and doubts his intellectual abilities, he finds himself on an unusual journey that will lead him to his dreams and ambitions. On this journey he discovers the fulfillment of a dream, the power of believing, and what it means to be poor, Black and full of ambition. And at the end of this journey, he discovers that the journey is never ending. This is a touching story that describes some of the innermost feelings and dreams that can be experienced. It is a story of believing, discovering, suspense and surprise. It gives definition to words like desire, pride, and ambition.
